"Va. House Approves Ban on Smoking"

I think this is just wrong. It should be up to the restaurants and bar owners whether or not people can smoke in their establishment. NOT the government.

"We're supposed to be the party of more freedom, not less freedom," said Del. Jeffrey M. Frederick (R-Prince William). "As much as I personally would love a smoking ban, it's not my job to tell small-business owners what they can and cannot allow in their small businesses."
Sad day for our state

Personally, I love it that we here in Pennsylvania have a public smoking ban. I hated going into restaurants and having it smell like smoke. Sure, they had smoking and non-smoking sections, but that didn't really make a difference because the whole place smelled like smoke anyway. I mean, if you wanna smoke, step outside for a few minutes and do it.

I hate it too but I think its the right of the owner to establish those rules in a private establishment. In public areas or government areas smoking bans are fine with me.

I agree 100%. It's been illegal in Philadelphia for a few years now and the law was just passed in the entire state of PA last September.

If people want to kill themselves, I'm fine with that. But I'm not ok with endangering others' health because your too lazy to step outside.

Slow here today, no?

I agree with Martin, in a way.  I had to do a debate in Government class last semester being AGAINST the ban (even though I am for it..it just seemed easier to be against).  Anyways.. I do think it should be the restaurant/bar owners choice to allow smoking.  But, if that were the case, why have the law?  If bar owners/restaurant owners wanted to ban smoking, they would have done it a long time ago.

But, I do love not having to go into a restaurant, and have them ask "smoking or non?"  Even if you are in a non smoking part of a restaurant, you are still able to smell the smoke.

I think it's always interesting to see what "things" the doppler radar does or can make. Right now, the rain in the midwest is making what looks like the number "9".

I think it looks like a weak hurricane!!! These systems are common though...

Having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in a pool.

Is it possible that WWCH won't be shown tonight due to the severe weather going on in the Plains?

Agreed.
I live with my dad and step mom and they smoke like a choo choo train. They literally chain smoke around me and don't give a damn about and it ticks me off so much. I could get a smoker's tumer or lung cancer because of them smoking so much.  <_< Soon, I hope they make it completely illegal like pot.

Exactly.

Here in Michigan the proposal for a statewide smoking ban has once again stalled.  <_<
Wish I had a WeatherSTAR 4000. Brings back memories.

Seeing how A&B have done three hours of work thus far, Paul/Alex/Jim might too (from 10-1).
