Most of us care because the transition frees up the bandwidth from analog channels to make room for more HD channels
You do know this transition is only for Over the Air and not cable, correct? The Cable digital transition doesn't happen until atleast 2012 iirc...

Yep i know, but my local Comcast rep told me "When the DTV transition happens many new hd channels would be added." :whistling:
This is why I get so pissed off about this whole transition. Lets get it over with for crying out loud. Cable had nothing at all to do with the transition. Statements like this confuse the average viewer. Also if they did get rid of analog channels, they would have to give every analog user a digital cable box.

BREAKING NEWS: I just got an e-mail from my cable supt. after I e-mailed him about a 4-*day long Intellistar Outage:

Quote from: author John Higginbothom
Unit broken. New unit should be in frankfort wednesday with installation upon arrival. Thanks for your patience.

would this mean i get a new STAR ID?
A HDD swap should do the trick. Im surprised that didn't solve the problem. If your ID does not change, then the HDD was simply switched.

Technically, the way they phrased it, they didn't.  Comcast (and no content provider, anyway) is not permitted to make channel changes until after February 17 June 12, as to not confuse subscribers.  Of course, the rep probably didn't know that and was probably talking out their butt....

I was wondering, but can anyone tell me to why the After Effects trial version says there are errors while installing it? :dunno:

Any time I emailed Comcast about channel issues - I got a very similar response. Even to ask them something simple - like why KDKA (CBS 2) is on channel 6, or WPXI (NBC 11) is on channel 12? And they would tell me it's because of the digital transition - which is a load of crap.

I have similar issues to what you have in Bensalem. KYW 3 is on 2, 6ABC is on 4, NBC 10 is on 11, etc. I have no idea why it's like that there and no place else around Philadelphia. It's been like that actually for at least 10 years, during the Suburban Cable era.

Suddenlink, for some strange reason, moved twc from channel 12 to channel 40, the station ID doesnt say so (changed to ch. 40 in 2005!!) and says that it is channel 12, and fox 26 moved to channel 9.

When we had AT&T Broadband, the channels weren't like that. It wasn't until Comcast took over that the local channel numbers were changed up. KDKA CBS 2 is on channel 6, WTAE ABC 4 is on channel 8, WPXI NBC 11 is on channel 12, WQED 13 is on channel 10, WPCW CW 19 is on 15, WPMY MY 10 is on channel 9, WPGH FOX 53 is on channel 7.

Luckily, with FiOS, all the channel numbres are right.

Here in Marlton, only the three "big" networks (ABC, NBC, CBS) and WHYY (PBS) are in their right channels. Most of other channels aren't (i.e. MyPHL 17 is on 4, FOX 29 is on 7, CW 57 is on 11).
