If we were to keep analog and digital, it would cost the stations more money for operating both Analog and Digital towers. TV is just a simple service, it's not a lifeline nor is it a utility. Maybe if it was something like radio that is like impossible to make converters for due to different kind of cars, I'd tend to agree more with you. We need to make space for newer technologies. It's going to happen in the first place because in the upcoming years no one will be using it anyway, but why not do it now to get it over with now? Cable companies are realizing this, too, by getting rid of most of the analog also, in a digital world, analog is a waste of space and technically inferior.
