What is the fastest OS you can use? I have XP, it's hella slow. Vista is fast, but i'm not sure whether I should keep XP or get Vista. Any choices?
It all depends on your hardware specs.
My laptop is 3 years old and it takes around 10-12 minutes to fully boot.

You probably have too much other crap on it like files and programs.

That's why most of my computers are "Thin-Clients".

So does my 10 year old computer! The reason is pretty simple - It's a Mac.

Just got another one 2 weeks ago.

I'm not talking about the computer to turn on, i'm talking when the computer starts and takes you to the main screen. I have to wait for all the updates and for Norton to load then the Firefox/iE launched after 10 min of waiting

Yeah, you have too much crap starting up when the computer boots. Mine boots in 30 seconds flat, and its probably near the same age as yours.

Besides, Norton is amazing at what it was invented for but it makes your computer really slow.

This is why we use corporate editions of antivirus software, for instance, Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition v10.2... No it's not free and no I cannot give it to you so please don't ask. but it does its job... doesn't slow your computer down at all.
