I'm glad my intellistar doesn't have traffic pulse. In my area you're supposed to.

Yeah I always wondered why there is no traffic in the Atlantic City STARs. I know the IntelliStars in Ocean County get traffic from NYC (which is pretty far), and the Vineland IntelliStars/Weatherscan get traffic from Philly. So why no Philly traffic reports for Atlantic City? People travel between those two areas all the time.

Ocean City, MD is a Getaway Forecast city on the Ocean City, MD IntelliStar. It's not an uncommon occurrence.

Yeah but it makes no damn sense for my own city to be on the Getaway. They should put another city like Wildwood, NJ or Wilmington, DE. That's in the Philadelphia DMA.

Why? AC is a more popular destination than Wildwood or Wilmington. Plus, that really solves nothing, as those two places, also in the Philly DMA, would see their city on the getaway forecast. There is no real good solution for this problem.

When I get Fios, I'll be switching to it in a heartbeat.
You'll get weather for Center City, PA.

That's the main reason why I refuse to switch to FiOS (I know, odd reason), but my parents really want to switch so I don't know what to do. I don't want to tell them that I don't want FiOS just because I'm getting a forecast for a city that's more than 20 miles away.
We all know I'm a big fan of localization of the IntelliStars, but when it comes down to it, I'd rather save and get better service with FiOS and deal with a forecast that's not as local as the competition (Comcast). Switching cable providers shouldn't be based on the headend size. Plus, you're only 20 miles away from Philadelphia, that's not bad at all.

Why will I be getting weather for Philly if A.C. has its own headend?

They're called subheadends or telephone offices. Currently they have no Stars in them but they could figure out a way to place a Star in one of them. It will likely be the best way to give a more local weather forecast to us TWC viewers. As for headends sizes, yes I may only be 20 miles from Philly but the temperature difference between Downtown Philadelphia and rural Bucks/Montco/Chesco and the Pine Barrens can differ greatly. Heck, Bensalem and Levittown's temperature differences are often 5-10 degrees and they're less than a half hour away from each other!

Also, headend sizes isn't the only reason why I refuse to switch...

But, that happens everywhere, including here. In fact, it happens ALL the time in the winter and spring, where it will rain in Downtown Pittsburgh and in the southern 'burbs, but in the eastern suburbs we'll get an inch or two of snow.

Also, headend sizes isn't the only reason why I refuse to switch...
Elaborate please.

Yes, please do. That seems like a pretty retarded excuse.

The actual term for those "telephone offices" is Central Office, or just CO.  ;)

Ah, it's nice not living near water. :P

I don't think that's ever happened here. But then again, I haven't been around that long.
