Problem:

Do I have to take out the cable line in my directv receiver and plug it in to the tuner? I see that's an option...

Connect the cable from the output on your receiver (it should say either output or line out) to the tuner.

First question, yes. I'm pretty sure you use a coax cable, but not 100% sure (never worked with any satellite stuff before). That's what I use with my Tuner on basic cable. Try it and see if it works.

No! THis has been answered so many times. As with a cable box or VCR, you have your TV or Tuner set to channel 3. thats all. Then you control channels via remote for the box.

It's not always Ch. 3, though. My TV is set to channel 4 for the cable box.

Eh...this is getting complicated. Yeah it'll work on Ch. 3

My concern is connecting it. the guy at radio shack said to unscrew the cable line and screw it into the tuner.

Is this a good idea? because if i screw back the cable line i'm afraid i will permanently lose my satellite signal from the receiever.
