I tried burning a VCD with Steve's 1920x1080 satellite HD clip on it, but when I tried playing it in my DVD player I got an error saying "video resolution not supported." 

edit: Also, I have found out that it can't play any WMV, PNG, or GIF files.

If you actually encode them to the DVD, it should work no matter what the format is on the computer.
