Hey thanks guys.  When I meant "I think two guys...." I specifically thought of Billy and Gary...gosh was I right.

After looking over the boards, I think I'll go with the newer one I found because, after doing some figuring, the cost will wind up being lower, even though the board + CPU is more expensive, due to memory being cheaper.

Note to Gary:  That first one that I found was just a earmark for me to start the search.  That board wasn't set in stone at all yet.

Now for two more questions:  will I need to be sure to calculate watts from the power supply and figure it with the board and stuff?  or is that if you're really gonna add extras to the supply (ie lights, extra fans, etc.?)

Glad to be spurring conversation in the boards!  If this is too long-winded for the Stove, you can snip this off and set it by itself if needed (everything about the PC...not just this post.)

The power supply really isn't a huge concern, unless you are indeed planning on putting alot of extra bells and whistles in/on the computer. 300-400 watts should be plenty.

For power supplies, I'd generally think that anything ranging from around 400 to 500 watts should be sufficient. You don't really want to skimp on the power supply because if it shorts out or fails, your entire system could be trashed.

Because Matt mentioned adding lights and extra fans. If you get enough of those, they can really start to suck up extra power.

He didn't say HE was going to. He just asked if he had to consider it under any circumstances other than that. And the answer stands as no. Unless he;s going to add bells and whistles there's no need to go all out on a power supply.

Yeah, fans are good. Having an extra fan won't hurt at all. And they don't take much power either, so it won't effect what kind of power supply you need. Generally speaking, 400 should be sufficient, but indeed 500 would be acceptable. It would offer you more power in case you decide to add more bells and whistles later on down the road.

Depends how you look at it. Dogs are a lot more playful and do..stuff.., cats aren't very playful, but have a more complex psychological and thinking...stuff...
