Who is Steve Jobs?

The founder and CEO of Apple. He is to Mac's what bill Gates is to PC's.

Check it out!:

Yup, got OS 9 on my Mac today. Only problem is I keep getting some kind of error about Norton Antivirus committing an error and to restart and hold shift to turn off extensions. Guess I've gotta find some way to get rid of Norton.

Go to the Apple menu, go to Control Panels, and open the Extensions Manager. Look for (and disable) anything related to Norton Anti-Virus, and then restart. You should be able to now start OS 9 with extensions enabled.

Is there any way to revert back to OS 8.6? I'm getting a different error message now, something about a bus error. I'm just going to assume that I committed some kind of cardinal sin by not turning Norton off before installing OS 9, as the instructions say to do.

If the computer came with the OS 8.6 CD, then yes, you can revert back to it, but you'd have to reformat the HD first.

Ugh. Suddenly Mac's are eerily reminiscent of PC's.

Unfortunately, the computer did not come with the 8.6 CD. So I suppose I'm stuck then, because I can no longer get into OS 9 at all, extensions or none.

Do you have a VCR or a DVR you can tape it to and then capture to your computer later with a tuner?

Believe me, you don't experience that kind of trouble in modern Macs. ;)

Try starting the Mac while pressing Command + Option + P + R, and wait until you hear the startup chime for the second time before releasing the keys. That will reset the PRAM in the machine, and that might get it back working.

VCR doesn't work. Why do you need a tape captured with a tuner?

I'm talking about taping the LF to a VCR tape and then putting it on your computer when you get a tuner.
