Forgot to mention this but when I was at the 4th Tri-State Weather Conference on Saturday, I got to have lunch with the longest running primary meteorologist on a radio station, Craig Allen (yes we have the same name, I was named after him). I also got to speak with WCBS-TV's primary prime time meteorologist Lonnie Quinn, though he's not a real meteorologist. It was a great conference. I'm surprised at my self how well I was able to understand what they were talking about, especially when they went into detail about mesocyclones and dual-polarization radar.

I'm glad you had fun and could understand what was being said!  Wait until you're in college and possibly giving one of those presentations someday for graduate school.  It's quite a thrill, and I can say it from experience.

Did you get a NWAS12 lunchbag Eleanor from the Taunton office was shipping a bunch of them up there last week.

NWAS12 in Madison was fantastic but a bit cold. It was great catching up with a lot of the industries leading OCMs and operational mets. Jim and Nick were fun to chat with again. I was disappointed the the Department of Commerce sought fit to remove nearly 75% of funding for NWS employees to attend one day before the event. What a low move

Annual AHAB Tsunami Siren Test- October 18, 2012

Okay, so here is my video footage of the annual tsunami siren drill, which is different than the monthly routine test.

For some reason, this siren did not go off during the test    but I did hear other siren wails echoing in the distance. Luckily, a friend of mine was also filming the test at another siren pole in the Long Beach area. Later on I grabbed the audio portion from his video and then merged the audio with my video.

With Halloween less than two weeks away, I'm curious how much any of you got involved in this holiday during your childhoods.  Also, what was your favorite candy or treat to eat?

I was just the average trick-or-treating child back in the day, dressing up in costumes and hoping I'd get some good candy. I liked all candies but my personal favorite are Snickers bars, which they still are today now that I'm in my mid-20s

Went trick-or-treating every year until I was 15.  I have always enjoyed Skittles and hard candy.  Hershey's chocolate was my favorite chocolate.

I don't remember the last time I went trick or treating - it was before I turned 13. Still, I loved those Milky Ways. I still do, actually.

This year I may go trick-or-treating again with a bunch of friends with AMS and hit our professors' neighborhood, like they do every year. I recently looked into a three-piece suit that makes me look like Al Capone.

I have went trick-or-treating up until last year (14 years old.) My favorite Halloween candy is Butterfinger, Milky Way, and of course, Candy Corn!

Well, I'm sure most of you probably know about this already since it's been all over the news, but it was a sad day for Texans today as the 60-year-old "Big Tex" icon at the State Fair of Texas burned down this morning.  The most probable cause was faulty wiring, as his mouth and arms move when he delivers his classic "Howdy folks, and welcome to the State Fair of Texas" speech.

I'm kind of mad at the city of Dallas, not only at the fire department for taking (what seems to me) too long to arrive but also no police or security telling people to back up from the flames (well I guess they do at the very end of the video, but still).  You never know what fires can do, and I think some of those fair-goers were a little too close for comfort.

Hey guys! How's everyone been lately? 

It's been nearly a month since I've been on the forums. Ya know...college workload is quite challenging to deal with. I had 3 exams last week and I have 2 more coming up. Bio and Chem at the same time is a very though workload...if any of you guys are taking a science class in college, I'd recommend taking one science class at a time. Taking two different ones can be overwhelming. But now I have some breathing room since I dropped my Calc class yesterday. I'll try to come online more often it's just that I have so many things to do and so little time to accomplish. 

With Halloween less than two weeks away, I'm curious how much any of you got involved in this holiday during your childhoods.  Also, what was your favorite candy or treat to eat?

My chem exam is on Halloween night.    I don't really eat that much candy anymore but if there was to choose..I'd probably stick with Jolly Ranchers. I've always loved Jolly Ranchers, especially the grape and cherry flavored types.  I also like the cookies n' creme Hershey bars and Kisses. Nerds are also another candy I like to eat, they are tangy and sweet at the same time.

If any of you are wondering how I would respond, I'd settle for Tootsie Rolls, 3 Musketeers, candy corn, and any Hershey chocolate bar that isn't covered in nuts.  There was a time that I really did some serious trick-or-treating as I even had a ghost costume.  I even went through a coupled haunted houses and corn mazes growing up.
