Severe Weather forecasteed for my area Tuesday!
TWC says: Strong to severe thunderstorms. Storms could contain damaging winds.
Also, a high wind watch for 60+ mph gusts Tue-Wed. The next 48 hours are going to be exciting!!!

I have a feeling that the severe weather threat tomorrow could get enough attention to be its own topic, so I ask everyone wanting to discuss this subject to head to this thread that plane852 created and post there:

Just came home, turned on my TV, and see breaking news of a school bus being flipped over in East LA... with students in it.  Luckily none of the students nor the bus driver were killed. But there's one fatality, but that's yet to be confirmed.

If you want to follow the news story, go to KTLA's website

Man... I can imagine how scary it is to be in a school bus crash. I can even feel the pain.

Oh my God, why is physics so  :censored:  ANNOYING? Universal circular motion can toss itself off a steep cliff, as far as I'm concerned. Sadly, I have to care, because my GPA is relying heavily on this one test grade.  :cry3:

On a completely random note, who here is planning to vote for The Rent Is Too Damn High Party come next Tuesday?

Considering how poor many of the bus drivers are at their job I am surprised we don't have more wrecks in this country.  Very sad about that story and it looks like the car who crashed into the bus was at fault

Is it really that bad?  I know that drivers involved in public transportation have to pass a special driving test to get their license.

I hope you realize that Physics is vital for Meteorology.  I had to use circular motion a lot in my college classes, and I even learned about advanced circulation theorems for the atmosphere.

I understand that completely, Patrick. Everytime I come across something like circular motion, I tell myself that. I'll need physics, alright, but I don't have to like it.

Physics is very rewarding once you understand it.  I love it.  I get a rush when I figure out a problem.  It also helps that my Trig class is also using physics-type problems, so it keeps the physics juices flowing.

On a weather-related note:

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a High Risk Convective Outlook for most of today. This means that extremely dangerous storms are likely to occur. High Risk days are extremely rare this time of the year, and when one has occured, massive severe weather outbreaks have ripped across the U.S. (The Super Tuesday Outbreak, for example).

This is a very dangerous weather event. Anyone who wants or needs to discuss it should head to the thread posted a few posts above this one. It is called "Severe Weather Threat: Tuesday, October 26th." Updates to the thread will be posted periodically.

Stay safe out there, members. Today is gonna be a doozy.

These winds are CRAZY.  Last night during the 10 o'clock news, a Tornado Watch was issued.  High wind warnings rae in effect right now, with winds possible gusting 40 to 60mph.  Should be an interesting day.

Yes. Two people that were in the BMW got arrested for hit-and-run. The two people ran away from the scene with nothing but a scratch but some guy went after them. The fatality confirmed was a bicyclist who was in front of the bus that flipped over.

Now THAT'S freaky. This is happening to my little sister, who is 8 years old and in the 2nd grade currently. (she got held back in kindergarten). For Christmas she wants an iPod touch, because when I let her use mine one time, she could not let go of it. She also wants a laptop as well. She told me one time that 50% of her 2nd grade class has a cellphone (not sure if they're the kids-version or the iPhone version ) It's crazy to see that kids these days are in love with today's available technology (iPads, video games such as the Wii or Xbox, etc). What worries me is their responsibility. How are they able to take care of those fragile things? My sister broke her Nintendo DS Lite, and it hasn't been a year since my mother spent a fortune on it.

In my childhood, it was all about Barbies, Hot Wheels, reading awesome books, and board games. All those amazing things we had in the past will start to slowly disappear soon thanks to technology.

Your sister is in 2nd grade and wants a laptop?!? I didn't have a laptop until 8th grade. And although I had a cell phone before this, it wasn't in second grade.

It is amazing, and almost sad, how technology has really evolved to change kids minds. An iPhone or iPad for a 5-year-old...can you imagine???  The board games, legos, books, etc. are really starting to phase out. :(
