Considering the things that go on in dorms it's almost surprising it doesn't happen more often!

so, last night I decided to go to sleep early...at 11.

at 3:30AM - SURPRISE. the fire alarms in my dorm started blaring. the 500+ residence, alongside myself, were pretty pissed. :club: we still have no word on who caused it to go off, maybe it's better that way  :P

the situation took about 30 minutes, I came back to my room around 4 and I couldn't fall back to sleep. lol, eh oh well.

Do they still call them dorms where you go to school? Everywhere around here, my school included, now calls them residential suites.

Anyway, I have a similar story from last year. Back in February, I went out with friends on a cold snowy night (you know, to go study and drink apple juice at one of their apartments :P). I came back to my room around 2am pretty under the influence of apple juice and went directly to bed. Meanwhile, it was still snowing pretty heavily (we about an inch per hour). Next thing I know, I wake up at 3:30 to the fire alarm going off (man, you'd be surprised how damn loud these new fire systems are!), assume it was a real fire because I saw what appeared to be smoke in the hall, and didn't even wait to put shoes on (forgot it was snowing!) and bolted for the steps. So here I am standing in the unplowed, snow-covered street (had about 3 inches on it FML) in bare feet, a t-shirt, and shorts. After University Police arrived and got everyone out, and SRFD arrived and cleared the building, two hours had passed.

As it turns out, someone IDIOT came back drunk and decided it would be a great idea to play with the fire extinguisher (the white smoke I saw in the hall), and when you remove the extinguisher from the box the fire alarm is automatically triggered. Worst dorm, erh residential suite experience ever.

yeah, they're still called dorms here...though most of the on-campus resident halls are being converted to suites. (I happen to live in one this year)

All of our newest dorms have private suites for 2-4 people. They're taring down the last remaining 10-Story traditional dormitory next fall, and another suite "Plaza Verde" (cool name, i thought =p) will stand in it's path.

Sorry to hear that Martin. :( Normally allergies are spring thing, though. Maybe they come during that "transition season" from hot to cold or vice versa. :hmm:

It's definitely not fall here...90+ but maybe some lower 80s by this weekend. :D

I sympathize with Martin's suffering; I've probably broken the record for the most sneezes in a 12 hour period. It's supposed to be in the low to mid-90s until the weekend, until it drastically cools down into the low 80s to high 70s. At which point, I will be in HEAVEN.

Going to Phoenix tomorrow to see KISS live in concert! For those who don't know, this is my 2nd time seeing KISS in concert (1st time was back in November at San Diego). Super excited!

Low 80's-high 70's? My kind of weather for me. I wish yesterday's weather repeated. we went up to 91.

I should have said that the weather will get down to those temperatures AFTER the weekend. The weekend is rainy and blistering hot.

I sneeze a lot no matter what. Usually, it's between two or three, sometimes five times in a row, but a few days ago, I sneezed seven times in a row.

Allergies are not just for spring.  You have to deal with trees blooming in the spring, grass constantly blooming through summer, and ragweed during the fall.  There are allergies pretty much all through the warm season.  Unfortunately, the hot and dry weather in the East doesn't help to wash out all the stuff in the air.  Allergy trouble is usually magnified during a drought, especially if a high pressure sits over you for days and doesn't allow much wind to disperse everything.
