Why has everyone been so quiet here lately?  I'm aware that it's been a rough week, and I'm hoping that we have some better times ahead.  I really would like to know what's going on around here so that I can help you all.
Not sure about everyone else here, but I have some extremely significant personal issues, so I can't devote as much time as I would like to in the TWC community. And it's important for me to not spread myself too thin over everything for things to get better (my life here, home life - both of them, school life, social life). Sounds weird, but you'd have to understand what I'm going through.. Anyway sorry I can't be as active as I once was... :/

It's okay, Derek.  I just want to make sure everyone here is alright.  I'm sorry to hear that you're undergoing some significant struggles lately, and I hope things improve for you soon.

Thanks for being so understanding, Patrick! B) Some things are improving, but at the same time other things are taking a turn for the worst. I'm happy to say that these newer problems are not nearly as bad as the ones I've been battling for a year or two now.

Wow, I just spent 3 hours outside shoveling, and went over some of the same areas twice. I must say I am impressed that the road crews are actually utilizing the plows instead of just salting on the snow or driving by. A set of plows came down Pennsylvania twice, and I had to shovel the thick, heavy snow twice. Not to mention this is a very moisture laden snow, and it is that much harder to shovel in the end.
It certainly is nice to see this snow, and before Patrick brought the concept of another snow to me in a PM on youtube Saturday morning, I had no idea this snow would happen. We may float on average snow this winter (54.5 inches), which I suppose does not give me all that much ground to complain. Just remember, 72 inches, which is the amount Mike said Philadelphia has had this winter, is a banner winter for us here.

Well, technically they are since we all know there is not an actual XL unit there. Thanks for the screenshots Billy and Zach :P

What do you all think of the current Olympics so far, or has it really interested you to this point?

Well imo, I think that the Winter Olympics so far is an okay, and I rarely watch it. So, it doesn't really interest me. I'm more of a fan of the Summer Olympics more. (And note: This is just my opinion on this.)

So I'm working on a "Sun Project" for Earth Science. How this works is that all 4 Earth Science classes are taking pictures of either the sunrise or sunset (most, myself included, are doing the sunset). We need to take the picture in the exact same spot every time, and we generally want to do this every 4 daze. However, because Michigan weather is not cooperating with us, we have not had many opportunities to work on the project. The only times that the weather has cooperated with us was 2/9 and 2/19. The sun came out this afternoon, but because of solid overcast to the west, the sun was obscured as it set.

Because I live downtown, homes are closer together, so it's impossible to do it out on my deck. However, being downtown gives me an advantage to have access to taller buildings. As such, I am able to walk to Sparrow Hospital, and use the Lansing skyline from the 6th (top) floor of the parking garage as the backdrop for my project.

Tell me what you think of some of these pictures

Now, notice how this leaning edge of clouds also can be closely noticed on my sat/rad:

I'm dealing with sort of a dilemma here. I believe, as the sun becomes more overhead, it will move to the right (north) in the pictures, right? I want to have Eckert Power Plant (which is where my power comes from, lol) on the far left as a delineating landmark, but I am concerned that the sun will go out of the picture in future times. Thoughts?

Anyways, that Power Plant also had two of its cooling towers damaged (one destroyed) back in June 2008 when the tornado on which a warning was issued in this video
Local Forecast with Tornado Warning- June 8, 2008

came by there.

You can see the Michigan State Capitol toward the rite on the pictures there. Sorry about their size, lol.

The pictures look fine, but they are really big on here.  As a tip for you, try either providing links to the pictures rather than showing the images themselves in the post, or compress down the images for us to view them better in the future.  Yes, the Sun will slowly appear to rise and set more northward with each passing day until the Summer Solstice.

So should I use the scene with the Power Plant in it or the other snapshot with just the Lansing skyline?

Unless you feel like taking a panoramic shot of the whole skyline to include the power plant every time, you'll need to stick with the Lansing skyline as it's further to the north (right in your pictures).
