Well, I am officially screwed. I took the HD into a computer place in Frandor, and they couldn't get it to work either. The only option I have is to spend near a grand to have a state of the art company look at it. I was told that the freezer option most likely won't work for me, and I would have to let it thaw for a couple daze, rather than take it out and try to get it to work right away.

Just installed Windows 7 on my lappy! And it's UH-MAZING!!!! I love it!!!!!! 

I was gonna buy 7 but I'm too lazy to deal with the hassle of having to move my files elsewhere and do a clean install (I still have XP on my main machine)

I bought the student download for $30, then I have the back-up media coming in the mail soon (I bought it from my school bookstore). It's worth it. I did do a clean install instead of a simple upgrade and now lappy works better that it was before.

Ahh, good times when I got a couple of those during my middle and high school. Even if I'm like 5 seconds late to class I still get those slips.

2 min late...that's kinda unfair IMO, usually in some of my schools they issue tardies 5-10 min after.

Evan, have you been late before? Most teachers here don't even give just after school detentions (which usually doesn't mean a writeup) until after three lates. At least I think that's how it works, but I'm never late to class without a pass

Our school now has tardy tables. Teachers used to care less if you were a couple seconds or min late. Now your caught and entered into a database before you even get to the classroom. 4 and you get Saturday school. Retarded rule.

Taryness is stupid and uncalled for (with exceptions...of course). As a college student now, it ANNOYS the hell out of me when someone is late.  If you are going to be late, don't come at all, you are distracting me from learning..

Even though tardiness is a problem, it's better than skipping class altogether.  When I was a teaching assistant for four years as part of my graduate student duties, I saw how terrible attendance can be.  I remember seeing days where not even 1/3 of the students were in class!  Consequently, the professors had me help them to make sure the students who were there got some benefits compared to those who weren't.  We gave away several upcoming test questions and answers when attendance was low.  Then, the professor and I would laugh when the exam results came back and showed how many students got those particular questions wrong.  So, I think you all can figure out the lesson here.

What an incredible relief to find this:

Apparently when I backed things up onto my main HD back in October, the time when my laptop HD failed, I never deleted the files. I am still missing several videos, and I had to get my Bay City and Petoskey videos back via Zamzar (still have my Romulus, St Ignace, and Port Huron clips to get back). Fortunately though, I am only losing a couple videos and I backed most everything up.
