Now that we're on the topic of math, maybe I can get help with my Algebra 1 Honors review packet? :whistling: :P
You're in Honors Algebra 1? :blink:

Yeah. :)

In middle school, if you do good on your test scores, you become advanced, but in 8th grade, if you meet that criteria, you'll take ninth grade courses. ;)

LOL a lot of people will have a hard time believin' that :P I can do honors but choose not to because i will get bad grades in such hard courses. I'd rather get Straight As in Advanced and Normal courses rather than Cs and Ds in Honors/AP.

OK, could someone help me with a  geometry problem? I need to know the values of x and y that makes AE parallel to BF, and I know a lot of people are good with math so if you could please help, thanks. Here's the drawing, as best as i did

Well, you know that angle A and angle E are congruent (alternate interior angles), so you can set the two equations equal to each other to find x. Then, since angle B is also congruent to angle E (corresponding angles), set the two equations equal to each other, plug in the value you found for x, and you should get y.

At least that's how I *think* you do it. I've pretty much forgotten everything I learned last year, so it may not be correct. lol Hope this helps! :)

That would help explain the confusion... I thought you were trying to find the lengths of the lines, I was like "wtf"... Derek is correct.

4x + 5 = 5x - 13
5 = x - 13
18 = x

thus you now have X, which is 18. Now for the next step
4(18)+5 = 3y - 1
77 = 3y - 1
78 = 3y
26 = y

So in conclusion, X = 18 and Y = 26. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys! But how did you get rid of 4x+5?

substitution... I figured out X, thus I substituted the X from 4x+5 with 18 to get 4(18)+5

How can you make yourself go to sleep without using pills?

It's only 8 PM but it feels like 11.

Here's a good tip: play some Trammell down low. Especially the more soothing songs. It'll put ya right out.  :yes:

A few people at school tell me that having the radio down low helps them go to sleep. I need to try that. Lately it's been taking me at least a half hour to go to sleep, and it's only like that during the week. No clue why.

It helps.  There are two things I can't go to bed without.  One- watching the news, at least until the weather. a nd Two- listening to the radio!
