Taking a shower after getting frost bite is not fun. Now my fingers are swollen.

Yeah... that's not good.  The best thing to do to warm up after coming in from the cold is to do it gradually.  Drink a hot beverage, eat soup, sit inside bundled up in warm clothing or a blanket for a while.  When your body starts to warm up, you'll know when you're back to normal.  However, going from cold to hot quickly can cause a lot of problems.

If you have frostbite that was a very bad thing to do. I've read that if you immediately warm your blood that because it becomes acidic that it can all go to your heart and cause a heart attack.

One thing I remember hearing about frost bite (and I hope this is true and I'm not just spouting off false statements here) is that, if you have it on your hands for example, you should actually run your hands under cool water, NOT hot water.  Obviously the instinct is that "I'm so cold and need to warm up right now," but that can be dangerous.

Why didn't you wear any gloves to prevent this whole problem?  You should always wear them if you're going to be outside for more than a few minutes when it's below freezing.  Furthermore, taking a shower was one of the worst things you could do as you induced two sudden temperature changes to yourself by suddenly heating up with hot water and later cooling down through evaporation of that water on your skin as you got out.  You're supposed to get dry first after having frostbite and wrap the affected areas in a blanket to gradually warm them.  Sudden rewarming can damage yourself worse than the initial frostbite.

I started my finals yesterday. The only one I've been worried about was physics, but it was easier than I thought. So far, it's been okay, except that I messed up my Chinese final since I put some answers in the wrong places on the Scantron, so I had to spend extra time fixing it.

I have the feeling you should have known better.  Whenever it's cold, there's always the chance.  "It never happened to me before, so I doubt it will happen today" is a very unreliable predictor... and you can't even say that anymore!  And I doubt you needed to take a shower right that instant.

Really, you could have seriously hurt yourself.  That's why we're being so hard on you.  You don't seem to have learned your lesson.

Our editing director at church said that when he went to an event held by Adobe, they asked how many people had After Effects. Then they asked how many people had a legal copy of After Effects, and only a few hands remained up. I think my hand would have to go down on that one. I do plan on buying it SOMETIME, but not anytime soon LOL

What's considered a non-legal copy of After Effects?   Don't worry, I'm not trying to bust you or anything Austin.  I know sometimes sites online have programs that you can download for free, although I don't remember seeing any for After Effects.  So maybe it's a trial version or "simpler" version?

And Victor, I just typed in "After Effects" in Google, scrolled to the one with the Google Product search (shopping results) and discovered it was $524 for PC and $589 for Mac.  There may be additional costs, too, if you look at the prices for it at Wal-Mart or Best Buy, it is near $1000!   Amazon offers it for a little over $600.  Once again, you guys who have it must have a lot of money in your pocket.

Ridiculous how much it costs. As a result its one of the most distributed software titles on the web. You would think if they just lowered their price they would make so much more in the long run. I guess these titles are cash cows for companies like Adobe

I got a family that does that for me already so please, this is for everyone, I'm not some kind of idiot who looks for answers to my problems on a TWC forum. I like to briefly talk about them, but no need to go this far. I understand you people known I could have gotten hurt, but still, I have common sense . When it in the 50's you don't think you'll get frostbite but I didn't expect to be riding in the wind.

I like to briefly talk about them, but no need to go this far. I understand you people known I could have gotten hurt, but still, I have common sense . Craig, we're just reacting because of how serious it sounded to all of us.  Our concerns are coming out in the harsh tone you're detecting.  I can see your point about the air temperature not warranting a frostbite risk, but whenever you expose your skin to moisture and/or wind, you can lower your skin temperature more than you think.  If your hands were starting to get cold, that's your signal to put your gloves on despite what the air temperature says.  I'm just glad that you're okay and hope you avoid this problem through our advice next time!
