For a wind advisory, it's sustained winds of 31 - 39mph or gusts to 46 - 57mph. Not sure about high wind warnings. But I swear to god I must have just experienced 75mph wind gusts. I've never seen winds this strong in my life and I'm not even exaggerating.

Edit: Just heard on the news that one of the hangers at Long Island Mac Arthur  was torn apart by the high winds.
A high wind warning is issued in the eastern United States when sustained winds reach 40 mph or more for at least one hour or if there is a wind gust reaching 58 mph or more at any instant.  That gust speed is not a fluke as it matches the wind speed criteria for a severe thunderstorm warning.

Well the NWS' forecast was way off. I knew before the storm that they should have issued a high wind warning as for we had sustained winds of 45mph with gusts to 59mph. Certainly enough to call on the high wind warning.

Long Island, August-September 2012 tornadoes, Hurricane Sandy, Blizzard of 2013, how many places on Earth do you know can get all 3 of those events within a 6 month period?

I was looking at some of the reports up there. What station was that?

I recall reading the Hazardous Weather Outlook out of New York that said gusts between 55 to 65 mph, although a low probability, were possible for much of Long Island. That should have been enough in addition to the wind advisory.

This is awesome! I might look into doing this for StormChaseTN, if you don't mind.

Definitely not! I love doing this, I find it to be a nice hobby.
Also, for anyone wondering, I used a Samson C01U USB Condenser mic that I bought at Best Buy for $70. I wanted to get the Audio-Technica condenser/cardioid mic, but they didn't have it. Most of the mics are the same, no true need to pay extra money. (Unless you want a shock mount)

If you'd like, I can do a point forecast on one of my live shows - either tonight or tomorrow.
