Although, I've never heard of Millersville University.

It's a public university in Pennsylvania.

Video on the misconceptions that the general public has about meteorology.

Don't Blame the Meteorologist

^ ^ Good video! ^ ^

Although, I've never heard of Millersville University.

That's where our very own beanboy89 attends school, and has for 4 years now.. :P

"Don't Blame the Meteorologist" was a well put together video, I like it!

My first semester as a transfer student at the university is finally over.  It was the toughest semester yet, and I am REALLY looking forward to 5 weeks off.  This is my longest break since high school, so I can't wait!

I know many other schools have finals this upcoming week, so if you are included in that I wish you the best of luck!  You're almost there!

It's also a school I once considered for undergraduate studies as I took a tour of the campus.

I could add so many more misconceptions to that video, Matthew.  Here's a good one:  "It's easy to make a forecast, so why do we need you?"  Oh, if only you knew how many variables you have to consider just to nail the low temperature for tonight, and today's models still do not accurately account for a rather alarming number of those!  Imagine how much more complex it gets when we add precipitation.  The reality is that you're seeing the huge gap in education here, and it's something that needs to be addressed soon as weather becomes an even bigger factor in our technological society.

Exactly. The public really needs to know what goes into making a forecast.

It's not easy. I get annoyed with some people who say it's simply looking at a model. Well, no, not really, because models aren't 100% accurate. You actually have to know the various elements of meteorology and determine whether the models actually make a lick of sense...in addition to looking at elements that models overlook (fresh snow cover, for example).

Just finished my last flight of the semester: a cross country from Grand Forks to Park Rapids to Bemidji and back into North Dakota. It was kinda weird to take off from Grand Forks, where there was no snow and the temp was around 40 (HOT by our standards at this time of year), to going to Minnesota and seeing snow on the ground, and temps barely at 30.
Tiddlywinks.

OMG you guys, I need to like.. come back here often. :(

But yeah. Hi! I graduated college last week, and moved back to that one town with the duck pond. Also, my moderator partner at the forum I mod at had resigned so I've taken over his section from now on. I'll be in full force over there, but THAT doesn't mean I'll disappear from here. :P

Plans for Christmas? Um... I don't know. I guess the usual like every year. lol

Welcome back, Ana!  Yes, you do need to come back here more often. :club: :P

And speaking of inactive members, has anyone heard from or seen Jesse recently?  I am not trying to stalk him or anything, but I've noticed he hasn't posted here in over two months.  Obviously, we all get caught up in things, but since he was such an active member before and didn't formally announce a departure, I just want to make sure he's alright.  (Another reason I am curious is because he used to be the one who put up the holiday logos, but that job is now done by Martin.)

I guess I can call this Version 2 of my CC screen, as I completely overhauled it this evening! You can still change its display site by changing the ICAO site to your airport, however, instead of processing the info with text overlays, it now consolidates the strings of info all into one image, and the loading is much much faster!

Here's the new URL to try it out: http://zach.dyndns-work.com:53205/cc/index.php?site=KLAL

Also, no more needing Interstate fonts to see it properly, hopefully! :D

Thanks! It updates too

EDIT: ugh.. sometimes it might not display because of how my source is parsing its reports, and thus not parsing the icons... I may have to take the icon part out for it to work all the time :(

Awesome! I wish I had the ability to make stuff like you do. I just understand how to make a few things in AE5.
I don't think my Interstate font is working right on my computer. It never looks like everybody elses.

Anywho, I was in and produced the cams of our church play, but I only was on production for the last 30 minutes or so.

Well hi everyone! After this past week, the 2 days off were gladly taken. Found out this week that I don't realy get a Christmas break b/c my teacher's have loaded the work on over break, ugh, give it a rest! Anyway, this week has been okay for me, not the best, hoping this coming will go by quickly and without a flaw. Wish I had something more interesting to say today, but not much.
