I noticed I'm not getting as good of a signal strength with my new wireless card (I'm at "Very Good" but with the old one it was almost always Excellent), but it doesn't make a big difference. :)

Yeah, there's not really much of a difference between Excellent and Very Good. But if it drops below that, then there'll definitley be a difference.

You don't use filters with cable modems.
Really? I have my new cable modem hooked up to a coaxial splitter, and it works fine (it also worked fine when we had cable before).

Oh. I thought you meant splitters because you quoted Gil's post that said:

Come to think of that, i had the same probelm with my cable modem. I had a splitter, with one connected to the modem, and
the other connected to the TV Tuner, ad it almost completely killed my internet connection. So yah.

I can't locate the post you quoted (because its old and after looking back about 6 pages I gave up!  :D), but I believe what Gil was saying was that he had filters like you had, that were in essence splitters (had an outlet for phone, and one for DSL).

Why would he even think of hooking up a DSL filter to a cable modem?

Good point. Like I said (for some reason unbeknownst to me) you rehashed a seemingly very old post, and I can't locate it, so I really don' know what that conversation was about.

It was here: https://twctodayforums.com/forums/index.php/topic,4.msg3381.html#msg3381 ;)

I've noticed that my internet connection has been having some very minor downtime. What happens is I'll try to go to a site, it'll show up as a page can't be displayed, but if I refresh it comes back up. Compared to what happened with DSL, it's obviously not bad, but still I'd rather it not have any downtime at all.

And you shouldn't have any downtime at all. It is not normal.

Wow Dan, that's not very good for a DSL connection.

My mom has a heart monitor near by, that sends in a reading via telephone wiring from a device in her chest (wireless). Since it's a wireless device, could it be possibly interfering with the router?

Thats pretty neat and it is possible that it could interfer, it depends on the frequency tho..
