Do the beta testers here have moderation powers? The reason I ask is because I thought I remember Gary saying they do, but I never see the testers moderating topics/posts and locking/pinning them when needed.
Even if they have those powers, they're not allowed to lock/pin topics.

What's the deal with kids on leashes? I'm at work yesterday, and I see two kids on leashes. First, this kid has a harness on, and there's a leash attached to it, and on the other end the kid's mom. Then later in the night I see a kid wearing this backpack thing, and it looks like a stuffed animal monkey, and it had this long tail as a leash.

What do these parent's think of their kids these days? They're treating them like animals on leashes.

Edit: The monkey one looked like this:

To put it simply: society is sick. :) People would rather put kids on leashes, or drug their kids, so they don't have to do any parenting.

until you have a kid of your own - you have no room to speak

if anyone has kids - you would know they like to wonder off, constantly - mainly because 1) they get frustrated with staying with their parents 2) they're curious about there where abouts.

i never noticed this, until my aunt had her child (my cousin - he is now 2) and figured it out when my sister had her child (my niece - she is now 1 1/2) - they both love to wonder off, open the doors and run out of the house - we've since fixed those problems by adding screen doors and locking them

so honestly - i don't blame them - you wouldn't want your child wondering off while at the store or something, would you?

So what ever happened to smacking a kid? Seems like nowadays, that's highly frowned upon. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but maybe that's also why there are so many horrible kids out there these days.

hitting them has no affect now-a-days...i don't care how hard you hit them, they won't learn anymore.

with that said...CPS is also getting tougher when it comes to spanking/hitting your children. i'm not sure - but if I remember correctly, spanking a child in California is now against the law [or something similar] (some body might wanna check on it though, but i thought this occurred a while back)

No, we don't have any moderation powers. The only thing we can do is view the private emulator subforum and view the moderation panel (which let's us see moderation actions done by the admins, warnings issued, and 'watched' members).

Saw the strangest thing today...While in the supermarket, we were at the checkout lines, and this girl in the line next to us, who couldn't have been more than 3 years old, was talking on a cell phone! f***ing insanity.

And now they say that cell phones DO increase the risk of cancer.

IMO, anyone under the age of 16 shouldn't have a cell phone.

I got my phone when I was 14, and I still to this day have that same phone, contract is up though, so I'm getting a new one.  I think it just depends on how mature the kid is.  I would say no younger than 13 you should have a phone.  I see kids all the time with phones, and it is rediculous.

I didn't get a cell phone until earlier this year (around 17th birthday). My parents refused to pay for it (which is a good parental decision, IMO), so after I got a job, I got one myself, and pay the bill myself. I think any parent paying their child's cell phone bill should be slapped in the face (no offense to anyone's parent). You're not teaching them to be responsible.

That's fabulous! (for the lack of a better word)

I can't begin to tell you how many kids i see, who are my age, that have iPhones! The plans cost $70 a month! I highly doubt they are paying for it.
