I don't think so. Up until the past year, WPVI-TV didn't use an audible alert for their warnings, and I think a few other stations in the area were like that too.

But, if it isn't illegal, then why did the FCC order TWC to cease the 3000?

But isn't that precisely the reason that the Weather STAR 3000 was discontinued? It couldn't sound an alert tine each time a warning was displayed.

Do the rules and regulations that regulate cable differ from those residing over OTA TV?

I thought that there was an FCC rule on that.  I guess not though.  A couple stations here in my market don't use tones, so I don't think there is a rule.  And if there was, then it's probably no longer in effect

Only one station in my area uses tones...and they just started doing wx bulletins in the last year or so.

calm down

On one of the stations here, their system is screwed up.  Everytime an alert tone comes on, the screen blinks, the volume goes out for 5 seconds, and the screen turns darker, and when it's over, the volume is regular, and the screen brightens, it's kind of weird.

Got to see some baby bunnies over at my grandparent's place tonight. A rabbit had a litter of bunnies a few weeks ago behind their house. I believe originally there were four babies, but one somehow died. Last night there were three babies running around but when we went over tonight we only saw two, plus the mother rabbit. Apparently one of the little ones likes to go in the holes where the basement windows are (they have a name, I forget it). Then one got into the space between the glass and screen and was stuck, so we had to "rescue" it. I have pictures if anyone's interested.

I like to see some. That's cool you got to see rabbits. A lot of petowners who have rabbits have issues with biting and gnawing furniture.
