Interesting, we just had a CFL burn out in my kitchen stove light, and it's only been installed since November of last year. I don't think it's the bulb that went out, though, since when it went out, we messed with it and it came back on for a few seconds, and then went back off. I'm guessing the ballast failed or overheated in this case.

NO! GRRRRR. I mean, I haven't had a regular bulb act weird like that. No balasts or overheating with incandescents. Sounds like CFL's are plagued with bugs.
