Come to think of that, i had the same probelm with my cable modem. I had a splitter, with one connected to the modem, andthe other connected to the TV Tuner, ad it almost completely killed my internet connection. So yah.

There's nothing even similar between the two. With a cable modem, you simply plug the cable wire into the modem and your on your way. There are no filters or anything else that you have to use.
Stephen, DO NOT replace the filter. You do not use a filter on the modem. I assume that you have a splitter on your phone jack so that you can hook up both the telephone and the modem. Put a filter on the telephone line, but do not put one on the modem line. I can't believe that your ISP wouldn't tell you that. The filter is interfering with the modem.
