Yeah Gil unfortunately your 1000 posts don't mean much because they were made for quantity, not quality. In fact, you may end up back under 1000 because I have been pruning some of the larger threads all day today, and admittedly most of what I've pruned belongs to you-because much of what you have posted are one word posts or otherwise unneeded posts.
Stephen, DO NOT replace the filter. You do not use a filter on the modem. I assume that you have a splitter on your phone jack so that you can hook up both the telephone and the modem. Put a filter on the telephone line, but do not put one on the modem line. I can't believe that your ISP wouldn't tell you that. The filter is interfering with the modem.
