I think its a must-have. I think the administrator(s) have every right to know more about a guest if they so choose. On some forums, ours being one of them, its absolutley necessary to be able to get information about your guests, in order to keep out unwanted ones.
Agreed. We have to maintain order on the forums so that we don't get trouble making individuals hiding under different identities. IMO, forums (like TWCMB) that have admins that don't seem to care about the trouble makers are a big turnoff from joining the board because the board is not being run as well as a forum should.
I agree. If I was the admin there I would've done everything in my power to maintain order (and to keep certain individuals out). Frankly, I don't think the admins did nearly as much as they could have (with the exception, perhaps of Bill, or WxHelp as he was known). For example, they could have made the board unviewable to guests. I applauded when Matt did that over at TWCC, and should we start having problems here I won't think twice about doing it. And another thing I would've done was to ban the entire range of IP's that Felipe was assigned. What I mean is, most IP's have a range of IP's from which they issue IP's to their users. This might be, for example 72.00.00.00 to 72.99.99.999. I would have banned the entire range of IP's used by Felipe's ISP. Sure, no one else using that IP would have been able to join, but that seems like a relatively small loss to take.
Thanks Billy and Gil for your compliments. It means alot to know that our members feel we are doing a good job. 8)
