Oh  I agree. I like how they do the questions. Although I would also add the clock back too. Adds more suspense to it!
I was never a fan of the clock... glad they got rid of it.

Millionaire hasn't had a good season since 2007-2008. I'd watch it more often back in the day, but my affiliate airs it during a time no one can catch it, at 12:30 PM.

WPVI (6 ABC) airs it at that time due to talk show and soap opera obligations... syndicated programming typically isn't aired in the country until after 9am local time, due to contract reasons (which is why Meridith Vieira isn't allowed to be on the Today Show after 9am, it's in her Millionaire contract)... Live with Regis and Kelly, Rachael Ray, The View are all live 9am-12pm, so you can't place it there. They air their 12pm news cast at 12pm. Soap Operas air at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm... Oprah has to air at 4pm, because due to contractual obligations, Dr. Phil and Oprah are not allowed to air at the same time in the same market, I don't know the real reason behind this. 5pm-6:30pm is local news, 6:30pm is ABC News. that leaves just 7pm and 7:30pm, which are taken by Jeopardy! and Wheel, respectively, so unfortunately... That only leaves 12:30pm. That's not the station's fault.

Well hopefully when Oprah is discontinued next year, they can put Millionaire at 4pm.

I remember during the first season Millionaire went into syndication, KYW 3 aired the show instead, at I think 4pm, which was a MUCH better timeslot. Then WPVI acquired the rights after ABC's soap opera Port Charles (which aired at 12:30) ended in 2003. Around that same time was when KYW did away with the afternoon game show block, moved their 5pm newscast to 4, and aired Dr. Phil at 5.

Oh I highly doubt that. The networks aren't going to risk loosing that huge talk show audience by playing a game show in its place. You can almost certainly bet on seeing some other similar type of talk show in its place

There have been rumblings that The View might go syndicated as a replacement...many stations might just move existing talk shows there (Phil/Ray/Oz/Berkus).  Interesting with CBS adding another talker with Julie Chen that my affiliate will be airing 3 hours of talk, all in a row (Talk/Phil/Oprah).

I've never been a huge talk show fan unless it had some good facts or a good laugh, but they pull in the ratings day after day like they're the greatest thing around.  I know some people can't wait to watch the next episode of some shows.

Exactly.  In many places, Oprah is the lead-in to the evening news, which might be a bad thing come next year.  The local NBC afilliate ("Number 1 station") airs Oprah at 3PM, and people stay to watch Jeopardy at 4, and then a local talk show airs at 4:30 leading into the 5PM news.  So, I agree with Martin that stations are going to try to get another talk show for the time slot.

I honestly hate people who always temper upon my backpack being heavy in the lunch line..  <_< My response would have been "well pardon my inconvenience but unlike you I prefer to use school in the proper way its supposed to be used rather than to horse around and act like were in middle school"

Only ones I'm a fan of are Ellen (she's nowhere near as funny as she used to be) and LLS w/ Craig Ferguson (which does qualify as a talk show). Both provide good laughs :)

I don't get it.  I just don't get it.  Why do other need to put down what other people do, or simply put people down.  This is why I am glad to be out of high school, I don't have to see this BS go on day to day.  It angers me to see bullies. Let people be who they are and back off!

I don't know why, but i think our ABC affiliate local news will be expanded to 4-7pm to fill in that 4pm hour Oprah is gone. They did that years ago when they expanded to a full hour at noon to take up for the cancellation of a soap opera (Port Charles i think it was) and recently they expanded the news 30 mins. from 5-7am to 4:30-7am.

Quite a few stations are expanding their broadcast hours. Its all a race for ratings, views and money. If you are the first station to start earlier you will get a hike in viewers and some of the those viewers will keep watching boosting ratings. Its also a clever way to manipulate the ratings so that you can advertise your newscast as being #1. Notice how sometimes on your DVR newscasts are named differently or start at odd times (ie 5:35)? It has to do with this
