More special ed teachers are needed as the population with special needs is increasing.
This has been a growing problem in my area and part of it is under investigation. State seems to be finding fraud and people abusing the money. While its important to maintain as many positions as possible, including special ed, special ed deserves to have cuts just as much as regular positions. It should be equal.
It's funny how here, they aren't cutting teachers or anything, but they are moving them all around and closing schools. Two elementary schools have been closed, one middle school is for 5-6th grade, and the other one is 7-8th grade. Thank god I don't need to move schools
And, they seem to have also been hiring more special ed teachers in my district. Two new people were added to the staff team last year just for that, and I think another was added this summer. They don't have too many people to maintain at my school with special needs... so I think it's unnecessary to be adding the extra special ed staff to our schools. And I do agree with you, they need to have just as regular positions do...
