My feelings are rather mixed on that... sure the kid may have gone a little far, but I'm also strongly against parents physically slapping their kids whether or not it's just an act of punishment. I still like to consider it somewhat of a child abuse.

This mother obviously doesn't know how to raise her child properly. If I were to do that to my mom, I would suffer severe consequences, something more than just a raised voice with the quote "Keep your hands off of me!"

That's the problem with the majority of kids today - their parents don't beat them. Children need to be somewhat scared to disobey their parents, and learn young. Otherwise when they get older they get more and more out of control.

There's a difference between a simple whipping and child abuse.  Parents are responsible for disciplining their kids without causing extreme physical harm to where it would be considered abuse, and I believe it can be easily accomplished with some common sense on how you handle it.  You all should have been in school decades ago when principals had the right to take a paddle and whack a kid in the office for misbehaving!

Same here for South Jersey with a extreme risk of severe weather. Tornadoes are also very likely, something we don't see very often around here.

That kid needs to be whacked across the face. I'm sorry, but that's the truth. Rule of like: Don't hit your own mother. And to the people who think that slapping is child abuse, it isn't. I got slapped when I misbehaved, and did I go running to the police? Call 911? Ask Dr. Phil to remedy the situation? (cough) No! Children need discipline.
