re: Spyware Protect 2009...
Run this: C:\windows\system32\regsvr32 /u iehelper.dll
Then delete the iehelper.dll file (I believe it's in your C:\Windows).
Then run Spybot Search and Destroy to clear it out.
Wish I'd done that earlier... I think I had another virus in there as well, but anyways the virus screwed up my system so bad that everything was running horribly slow, and most of the time it would freeze when I would try to log on to Windows. So I just basically said "screw this", and I'm now reformatting that machine.
I think the problem last time is that I didn't get all of my security updates. This time, after it's reformatted I'm IMMEDIATELY going to Windows Update (though I'll get McAfee reinstalled first) and get every single update. It will take a while, as I'm going to have to go from XP SP1 to SP2 before SP3, I can't upgrade directly. But anyways I'm going to get my security updates done before I really do much of anything.
