I start work 2 weeks from now. Mondays are my least favorite with work straight from 8am to 9pm with a 5 hour break in between. I bought all my textbooks so far though
You have school on Labor Day?!

I started last 2 weeks ago. Our school is considering ending on the same day this year, but not starting until the 26th of August, permanently ripping quite a few weeks from our schedule :D

Hi, folks!  I'm back from my vacation that involved multiple places in VA, MD, and PA over the past week and a half.  Hope all of you are doing well. :)

My former high school back in Spokane starts on the 29th of this month, while the other schools in the school district start on the third of September. I think this has to do with a $4 million federal grant the school received last year to help improve its graduation rate, which happens to be the lowest one in the entire city of Spokane. The school also started earlier than the other schools last year. It's a good thing I graduated from that school back in '07

Still have 14 and a half days of summer vacation. My school doesn't start until September 5th. You'd think with such a late start date, the classes will end late too; not so here, classes end at the beginning of June.

Long Island, August-September 2012 tornadoes, Hurricane Sandy, Blizzard of 2013, how many places on Earth do you know can get all 3 of those events within a 6 month period?

If anyone is on Comcast, the shift of moving the High Definition channels from the 200s to the 800s begins today. If you have a DVR, your recordings will automatically move to the 800s equivalent. More information can be found at http://www.xfinityhd800s.com/. On the old channels, this is shown on all of them.... I received this message on my TiVo about an hour ago....

The TiVo service has detected a change in your cable lineup.

If any channels have moved, the scheduled recordings on those channels have already been moved to the new channel for you. If any channels hwere removed, the scheduled recordings on those channels have been deleted.

If any channels have been added, the DVR assumes that you receive them unless they are premium channels. To modify which of these added channels you receive, select "Specify channels I receive".

(Message #62)

All I know, is Comcast is making an effort to standardize their channel lineups higher than 99... I think this is a smart move.

Hmm, that's weird that they had HD channels set that low in other areas, our HD channels have always been the 800s, a few are in the 700s as well.

When I lived in suburban Boston, Comcast had the majority of its HD channels in the 800 range.  The 200 range was for standard definition expanded basic channels.

Bright House in Daytona Beach has all of its HD channels at 1001 and above, with the standard definition channels in the triple, double, and single digits.  I like this arrangement much better, but it would be convenient if the HD channels mirrored the SD lineup.

Comcast also always allowed the option to instantly switch from SD to HD with the touch of a button, but that option was only added to my Bright House cable box a couple of months ago.  Before that, I had to go to the program guide and hunt.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Andrew making landfall over Florida.  I can still remember watching it all happen on TWC when I was a kid.

It's amazing how quickly time flies, isn't it? The south Florida region has recovered well from the weather disaster, but I certainly hope to see nothing like a storm of Andrew's power anytime soon.
