You just have to convince yourself that you don't have anything to worry about.  Horror stories about miserable roommates and neighbors, fire alarm pranks, and so on, are really the exception rather than the rule.  You'll enjoy the freedom from home life, the chance to explore new things, and you're certain to meet a lot of interesting people.

Not only now that it's all over and done with, but even when I was still in college, it seemed like those years just flew by so quickly.  Enjoy it while you can!

Not every time a fire alarm goes off does someone pull it. They are required to have regular fire drills.

Once a semester, twice at the maximum, unless certain colleges choose to have more.  So it's more than likely that a fire alarm that goes off after the first week of school is not a drill, but a prank, a false alarm, or an actual fire.

We had drills at least twice a semester, and sometimes more, IIRC. Nobody was ever stupid enough to pull the alarm as a prank, because all the halls in the dorms were monitored by cameras. More often than not, it was caused by someone burning popcorn or something dumb like that.

Probably the freshmen dorms will have issues with the alarms pulled off as pranks,but don't they punish people for these actions?

I was watching MSNBC and breaking news came on that there was a bomb plot by a 17-year-old at Freedom High School in Tampa. Weird thing is, none of the local stations have broke the news yet. I guess they're waiting till 12.  :hmm:

I know this was this morning, but I'm gonna assume they're talking about it locally there on the news now right. I saw it on the local news here.

This story about the bomb plot is interesting to me. According to the media "The 17-year-old has been charged with threatening to discharge a destructive device" along with some other drug related stuff which isn't relevant. How loose is the definition of threatening to discharge a destructive device? Is writing in a personal journal about these sick things considered the same as publicly saying it? There is no doubt in my mind  that the kid is messed up and probably better off in jail. It seems like there might be more to this story than the police are reporting at the moment. :wacko:

I was kind of disappointed when I heard this. WebOS was a really nice mobile OS. IMO, it was right up there with Android and iOS in terms of polish and functionality, but it was just poorly marketed by both Palm and HP. The lack of third-party developers and apps really killed it, too.

Dude, don't even bother buying an HP touchpad. I took a test-run yesterday at Best Buy and it was horrible in terms of graphics and speed. It works the same way as a friggin HP computer, only worse. I prefer the Motorola XOOM. Best. Tablet. Ever. ^_^
