Ordered a new Dell desktop today. This will be the first desktop I have gotten in 8 years that I will use as an actual computer. Ive gotten a couple cheap towers in the past for servers.  I can't believe they now have 6 core CPUs!! 12 threads! I remember when the PentiumII was super awesome.

Studio XPS 9000
1   317-4541   Intel Core i7 980 Extreme (3.33GHz, 12MB Cache)
1   317-0080   12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz
1   320-1292   ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5
1   341-8519   1TB Serial ATA 2 Hard Drive 7200 RPM
Awesome system!
Needlessly overpowered unless you're a gamer, even then, still needlessly overpowered unless you turn it in to a server.... :P
Oh for the amount of crap ill be doing it should be good. As long as I can play pong.... :P

I use an old HP tower for a server as well. 512 MB RAM DDR and 2.53 GHz Intel P4  :P

I'm currently looking out for a smaller laptop at this moment. One that has more RAM and more hard drive space but smaller and lightweight to carry to school. No, a netbook does not count, but I'd like one, though. God, I feel like a computer geek.   :bleh:

I need a lot of laptops. My micronation will soon be broadcasting television, so I need computers to relay the video signal... nothing powerful though. Just a few Pentium 3 laptops or something. it's important to keep up with the technology advancement! :P

I do need a new personal laptop though. Something with a powerful video card. Even though I'm a computer nerd, I don't feel like researching  any suggestions?

I need a new laptop too. The one I have now is as slow as they come. I was considering maybe getting an iPad, but they might not be the best thing to get for school related stuff. And I just realized that The Pot Belly Stove will be coming back before we know it. I love that name because it somehow reminds me of being by a fire pit in the middle of January roasting marshmallows. I love winter in the south.

I personally thing an iPad would be perfect for school. It's really got everything you need. Plus, lots of schools and colleges are using them now.

Fall will officially start this year at 11:09 PM EDT on September 22, so look for the transition to occur either on the 22nd or 23rd depending on what Martin decides.  It's hard to believe how fast summer seems to go these days.

you're right. It's two weeks away.. and we're starting to feel it here. (yes, 95 degrees every day is considered "fall" weather in my area. :P)

I need a lot of laptops. My micronation will soon be broadcasting television, so I need computers to relay the video signal... nothing powerful though. Just a few Pentium 3 laptops or something. it's important to keep up with the technology advancement! :P

I usually search on Best Buy.. just because of the price. If you want something powerful in your laptop, go check out Toshiba or Sony. They're reliable. I would also say HP, but I dread their horrible customer support.

I personally thing an iPad would be perfect for school. It's really got everything you need. Plus, lots of schools and colleges are using them now.

I want an iPad too. It can save me a hundred dollars on textbooks. 11 schools in my state are using iPads as a learning tool.

Our middle school (which I no longer attend. boo.) purchased a cart of iPads over the summer. I'm trying to convince my English teacher from last year (who is my friend) to ask for that cart. ;)

Dude. Nice. I wish that my school would get iPads. But NOOOO... we spend money on iTouches for a music lab, new Macs (only for one room in the building), and crappy HP laptops.

Haha, actually 95° with a heat index of 93° might feel pretty comfortable. I think the high in NOLA today was 88° with a heat index in the triple digits. I don't care what the calender says, summer is still here where I live. What I wouldn't do for some cooler weather...

I really might consider buying an iPad then. It might be a tough transition though, as I'm not totally used to touch screens and stuff. I'll probably ask some folks over at Best Buy and see what they think. The downloadable book stuff would be very cool.

Fall is my favorite season.  The weather is great..not too nor too cold.  Don't have to wear a heavy coat, which is always a plus.

Starbucks brings out their Pumpkin Spice Latte (which I hear you can already get if you ask..) and I hear Dunkin' Donuts has Pumpking Spice coffee.  Anyone tried that?
