Post by: wstarcraze on January 31, 2009, 10:07:27 AM

I've been lucky not to even get the common cold yet this season.

Haven't had it in eeons. I've never been vaccinated either. I think I've only had it once or twice in my entire life, and those occassions were in elementary school.

Same here! And this season, I was actually hoping to get sick so that I could miss school. :P

Be careful what you wish for!  :P

The flu is miserable. Even school isn't THAT bad.  :D

I had the flu like 3 times back in 2006. Haven't had it since. :D

Just goes to show you that vaccines are not 100%

I usually get the 24 hour flu once or twice of year, and feel like complete crap.  I had it toward the beginning of this month.  Could not eat or drink anything (even hard to drink water)  it was bad.

I got to stay home and watch the inauguration because of some sort of 24-hour flu that made me so weak I was dizzy when I walked.

I was in bed all day, waking up at about 6:00 PM to eat the only thing I ate that day (chicken noodle soup, my savior), and was sleeping again by 7:00.

I can't describe how badly I felt that day.

I took part in a flu shot study back in November and i never got sick since.

I got $150 for participating in the study, and i am getting $250 by the end of may for staying up to date with the study.

one more thing is that if i ever have any flu like symptoms before may i go see the hospital and i get an extra $50 added to my $250

New vaccination lists start in June I'm doing it again :)

The flu vaccine is the biggest medical load of crap of the decade.

Why? Influenza has billions of variations, and it's impossible to protect yourself from all of them. Besides, its natural. Need I say more? My aunt got one of those shots a few years ago, and she was sick for months. Vaccinating against the flu is like vaccinating for the common cold - it's pointless, doesn't work, and has many negative effects on things.

As for me, I'v got some kind of respiratory thing going on. :dunno:

UPDATE: My mother took me to an urgent care place not too far from my house and had strep tests done on me and my little brother

RESULTS

Little brother: Negative

Me: POSITIVE (OH NO!)  :(

So I actually have Strep Throat.

That's something else I haven't had in ages. But the last time I had it, I too thought I had the flu. Strep can make you feel just about as bad. The good thing though (at least for me) is that antibiotics instantly make you feel brand new.

I think I heard that Strep is running pretty rampant where I live (Monroe County    SE Michigan)
Mainly schools.

It's been a while since I had Strep. What mainly sucks about it is that you can't swallow your food or drink without having a searing pain strip across your throat..

I get the Flu quit a bit.. at least once a year. The type of Flu that I hate is the Stomach Flu.. The last time I had it, it lasted for days.. Around a week IIRC.

Yuck I hate the stomach flu! I haven't had since Dec of 2007. It feels awful, like you're about to have a baby and throw up @ the same time.

I know nothing about strep in my area (Okemos, Ingham County, MI). I'd much rather have strep then go to school, but people would beg to differ (Gary  :bleh:). I just need a break from school. I hate it on how I an in one of the hardest school districts in the state (And it is one of the best ) I hate school. It is borring and the teachers are so on you...

Just a clever way for the media to get a story and for drug manufacturers to make a nice profit.

I tend to get sick twice a year big time and off and on with minor things. Most of it (I think) relates to school and the tons of germs going around there.

I get sick 5-8 times a year during the Cold & Flu season. Without taking more precautions than I did before, I was sick only once so far.

Ugh, school is a harbor for germs. Looking back, I can't believe I stayed as healthy as I did. There isn't a filthier place on earth.

Better to be exposed to it earlier, so your body can fight it off and build up its immune system.

Well, my old school was a magnet to germs. I got sick alot, but ever since I moved on to Middle School, me nor my friends have gotten sick yet. I think it is due to the fact that the janitors are requiered to sanitize almost everything that peopel come into contact with everyday. There isn't much to be exposed to at my school. The janitors need to make sure that they are being very careful, especialy to the building its self (Like buffing the floors). If the floor cracks, that is a big uhh-ohh. But generaly, if people feel sick, they wont come to school...

Wal-Mart.  I never got sick at school, but had the stomach flu three times since working at Wal-Mart.  Mind you, this was in the last *year*.

One of many reasons why I won't set foot in a Wal-Mart.

Protip: Carry a bottle of hand sanitizer in your pocket and use it frequently and liberally. That will solve the problem. Those bugs (unlike others) are mostly passed through touch, not the air. Also, keeping your hands away from your face helps too. Don't put your hands in your nose eyes or mouth for any purpose. Same goes for pens or anything else you might hold in any of your orifices.

Lots of colds have been going on in my family this season, not me because I always stay far away from people when they're sick. I'm not falling behind in school.
