I am bumping this topic to give anyone who is a Florida State college football fan a big congratulations.  The Seminoles just won the national championship after defeating Auburn 34-31.
That ended the SEC's streak of BCS national titles. The SEC dominated 7 straight seasons with Florida in 2006, LSU in 2007, Florida in 2008, Alabama in 2009, Auburn in 2010, Alabama in 2011 and 2012. Next year it will be a playoff format instead of the controversial BCS system.

In one of the wildest NCAA tournaments I have seen in a long time, Connecticut as a 7 seed just won the national championship in men's basketball over Kentucky as a 8 seed by the score of 60-54.  Congratulations to any Huskies fans here!

The Seattle Seahawks begin their pre-season tonight at 6PM PDT on FOX. It'll be a rematch with the team they crushed in Super Bowl XLVIII six months ago, the Denver Broncos. Six months is too long to wait for the next season of NFL football, especially for a 'newbie' sports fan like myself!

Really have a feeling both the Bucs and Royals will win their wild card games.

The Seattle Mariners came very close to making it into the Wild Card playoffs, until the A's beat the Rangers yesterday which eliminated the M's from the playoffs. Booo!!!  :itsok:

Just watched the Lakers get blown out by Phoenix...gonna be ANOTHER long year for them.

The Royals lost a heartbreaker in Game Seven of the World Series.

My Saints take on Carolina Thursday night.

I hope my 6-2 Cowboys can hold it together against Arizona.  Where's that defense?

Any hockey fans in here? I must say I was quite impressed with how the LA Kings beat the Anaheim Ducks in overtime 3-2 :bleh:

I am a college football fan and more specifically, an Alabama Crimson Tide fan. I am looking forward to the Iron Bowl (our annual game against bitter in-state rivel Auburn Tigers) and to beating them this time to avenge last years 34-28 loss. This weeks CFP rankings are: 1. Alabama 2. Oregon 3. Florida State 4. Mississippi State

My team, the Alabama Crimson Tide, came back to defeat the Auburn Tigers 55-44 last night in a rivalry simply known as the Iron Bowl.

Does anyone have any thoughts about the new contraversal college football playoff system?

IMO, I think it should an 8 team playoff. Not just 4. Would make it interesting.

The Cowboys are 8-4, and can't get their act together at home.  I've never been a fan of that shiny new stadium, which IMHO is at best a hype magnet and at worst a jinx for the home team.  In any case, the team could still have yet another 8-8 season if they try hard enough to lose.

The San Francisco 49ers have been officially eliminated from the NFL postseason, after losing to my team, the Seattle Seahawks, this afternoon. Seattle finished this game with a score of 17-7, and their record now stands at 10-4. Go Hawks!  :twothumbs:
