I guess the Superdome wasn't so "super" for about half an hour.  It was rather creepy to see the stadium like that.   It sure made it exciting, though.  With that being said, how do you expect to have what amounts to a huge party and not have something break?

If the power outage had happened in the second quarter instead, then the 49ers might have pulled it off.  The momentum shift came to late to come back from that much of a deficit.  I was rooting for the Niners to avoid seeing a northeastern team win yet again, even though I'm not a true fan of either team that was in it this time.

March Madness has officially ended for this year.  After 67 games played, your national champions are the Louisville Cardinals.  They just defeated Michigan 82-76.

It's official now. The NBA won't be returning to Seattle. NBA owners voted against investor Chris Hansen's bid to relocate the Sacramento Kings to Seattle. The vote was 22-8. It's a sad day for hopeful Sonics fans, including myself  :(

First of all, what happened to the Sonics? Lack of support by Seattle? I don't keep up with the NBA and haven't since the 1990s when Michael Jordan was playing for the Chicago Bulls.

What happened was that Howard Schultz wanted to build a new stadium for the Sonics but nobody in Seattle (the taxpayers, the city itself, etc.) liked the idea, so instead Schultz sold the team to Clay Bennett from OKC and then the Sonics moved there and became the Thunder.

2013 is destined to be a bizarre year in the sports world.  After the infamous power failure at the Super Bowl, we now have the next weird moment to halt a sporting event:  During the NASCAR Sprint Cup Coca-Cola 600 race this evening at Charlotte, NC, a nylon rope used to guide one of the FOX network overhead cameras fell on to the track while the race was in progress.  Multiple cars ran over the rope and sustained damage that the crews had to repair, and the race was halted so that the entire rope could be removed from the track.

Unfortunately, the fallen rope also caused several injuries to fans in the stands, and a few of them had to be treated at a local hospital.  It was such an awkward scene as the TV station was directly responsible for everything that happened.  FOX is in some deep trouble now.  Here is more information about what happened:

I am bumping this topic to give anyone who is a Florida State college football fan a big congratulations.  The Seminoles just won the national championship after defeating Auburn 34-31.

That was quite a game, so I'm not surprised to see you post about it here excitedly. :P

Both of the #1 seeds from the NFL playoffs made it to Super Bowl XLVIII, which will be the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos.  It will be held at the New York Giants Stadium in New Jersey on February 2 at 6:30 PM EST.  FOX will cover the game this year.

In a tie for the third most lopsided result ever in the Super Bowl, the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos 43-8 to win Super Bowl XLVIII.  Denver failed in all aspects of this game, and Seattle took full advantage to earn the title.  Congrats, Jim and any other Seahawk fans here! ;)

That was a beatdown.  :o
Hakeem: What's up, Jetsons!
Frank Mitchell: Jetsons?
Hakeem: Yeah, you and George got the same haircut.
