Tavores, I hope you don't mind, but I have made this a separate topic, as I feel this is a major event to talk about.  In splitting the topic, I forgot to rename it, so that is why you and Victor will see your posts edited.  Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

Right now, this is a very sad day for the nation, and I am praying for everyone affected by this.  The fact that two explosions in two separate places occurred within 15 seconds of each other scares me that this was a planned attack, so anyone in or around Boston, PLEASE be careful.

Unofficial word of explosions in Dorchester, MA, at the JFK Library. Not confirmed.

My deepest prayers for those in Boston. This is scary.  :(

You have to wonder why a person or a group of people (possibly terrorists) would commit such a horrific crime on thousands of innocent people who were trying to watch or run the Boston Marathon  :(  My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone and whose loved ones were affected by the bombings.

Oh great, now the government is going to blame all of us over this and make more laws...

Can we refrain from making comments like this, please? This is a national tragedy.

The question now is whether it was foreign or domestic.

My thoughts go to victims of this terrible tragedy.

Just to give an update, the injury count has shot up to 86, death toll remains at 2. Pres. Obama will be doing a live press conference very soon. Also the JFK Library fire is said to be most likely not related to this event.

I'm glad to hear there weren't more deaths from these explosions, seeing the raw footage it really could have been a lot worse.

EDIT: I did forget to mention that this has been said to be a terrorist attack (which I had suspected) from what I heard from ABC and our local news affiliate from the same network. It's just a matter of who and why right now.

The uncensored pictures I am seeing are rendering me speechless. 3 dead, over 140 injured, and still no one in custody.

A person's home should be his castle, but it shouldn't have to be his fortress. It's the same with our country.  :(

On an article I found on MSN this morning, I am now confused about two things.

http://news.msn.com/us/boston-bombing-what-we-know (http://news.msn.com/us/boston-bombing-what-we-know)

Quote
At about 2:50 p.m. ET on Monday, two bombs exploded in Boston's Copley Square, near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

Yesterday, reports said that the explosions occurred at 2:10 p.m. ET.  I know time may not be a big deal, but in my opinion, the time at which these explosions occurred should not be difficult to figure out, so it concerns me that this has changed from the preliminary reports.

Quote
No unexploded bombs were found on Monday, despite previous reports, authorities said at a press conference Tuesday.

I heard yesterday that the Bomb Squad set off at least one more bomb to detonate it before it caused any more damage.  Now this latest report says this is no longer true.  How, and WHY, would you lie about something like that???

Does anyone else have any information?  I know this is still a developing story, so a lot of the details are very fuzzy at this moment, but I don't understand these differences in the latest reports.

To answer the first question, I wasn't aware there were reports that the bombs exploded around 2:10pm, when I first heard the news from multiple sources (ABC, NBC, CBS, etc.) they reported the bombs exploded around 2:50pm ET.

Regarding the second question, it's probably a case of initial misinformation. I had heard the same regarding a third bomb being found at the finish line and was being detonated by the Bomb Squad. It's common to get misinformation in situations like this where you're trying to get as much developments as rapidly as you can on what happened. It's similar to what happened during the Sandy Hook Shooting where the majority of the media was misinformed about who the shooter was because the shooter was carrying his brother's ID.

It would be better if everyone just left Boston alone for a while.  Let the families have some peace and time to recover and mourn, let the people of the city regain their normalcy and shake off the horrid shock they felt on what was supposed to be a day of celebration, and let the investigators pour through the shreds of data to find the evidence they need to piece together this tragedy.  A hard-pressing media makes things worse when everyone is trying to be the first to know to gain a buck, which results in tons of misinformation.  Things will get sorted out in due time, but please give everyone a break and stop with the fear tactics!

CNN.com is reporting they have from an unnamed source that the Boston Police believe they have a suspect.

There was mass (http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/492958-Nets_in_Conflicting_Reports_on_Bomb_Suspect_Arrest.php) confusion (http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/an-arrest-in-boston-blasts-depends-who-you-believe_b175610) from all the media networks about an arrest being made.

Yesterday, the FBI revealed who their two suspects were in this bombing investigation. One wore a white cap and the other was wearing a black cap and video footage showed at one point they even conversed with eachother.

This morning, one of the two suspects was killed in gunfire with the Boston Police along with one police officer. A manhunt is ongoing for the second suspect (identified as Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, 19). He and the other suspect were brothers. Gov. Deval Patrick ordered a lockdown of all public transit and residents on the suburbs of Boston and the entire city of Boston to stay indoors as a massive manhunt for the second suspect was underway.

They should just Close all highways in Massachusetts and Conneticut and stop all air traffic from leaving Logan Airport and Bradley Int'l so he has no where to run.

The FBI and the Boston PD aren't playing around now.  They mean business.  It's too bad a Boston police officer was lost in the line of duty, though.  :(

It's a media circus outside of the uncle's home right now. He gave a live interview where he said he's very ashamed and disgusted by what they have done and that Dzhokhar needs to turn himself in now and beg for forgiveness from the Boston victims since he has brought shame to this country, his home country, and his ethnicity.

Wow, from what I'm seeing on MSNBC, this is a pretty tense situation, and I'm hoping this will end peacefully. My thoughts and prayers go out to the residents of the Boston vicinity, as well as to the family and friends of the police officer who was killed  :(

I hope we can get some clarity from the police on what's happening soon because I've heard conflicting reports from he's dead to maybe he's not dead in a boat where he may be lying in bleeding out from a gunshot wound. I've even heard the boat was on fire and/or shot up to pieces from gunshots. :dunno:

I'm just glad it's over.  Unfortunately, it shows our society needs to do a way better job of helping troubled teens and young adults before they become brainwashed, depressed, or worse.
