That didn't last too long.

I had to put Vista back on this machine because XP couldn't activate - so I'd be unable to use it after 30 days. I realize there are ways to disable that but I'd like to keep it legal.

So back to Vista I go.


I actually restored it back to Vista by not using the Recovery software on my Recovery partition, but with the Vista Restore disc that shipped with my laptop. It actually installed a clean copy of Vista, with no Dell crap on it (though there is still some Dell branding in certain places). It was also pre-activated since it belongs to this machine. Oddly enough it seems to be quite faster than the Vista installation it shipped with (and the installation it reverts back to if I had used the recovery partition method) - and I guess I can attribute that to it being a basically stock install of Vista (although I have installed the updates including SP1). Overall so far it's running great, and I hope it stays that way. *knocks on wood*
