Title: Playstation/Wii -Video Games
Post by: Lightning on August 18, 2012, 05:16:58 PM
I just wondered. Does anyone on here have a video game from nintendo, such as a wii, an x box or a play station?

I don't really play video games much anymore (except with friends and family and a lot of those games are family/multiplayer oriented) on an old Wii that's just sittin' around collecting a mountain of dust.

It's kinda funny, when I was younger I was begging for a PS2  and I got a Gamecube because it was cheaper. I begged for a XBOX 360 and I got a Wii again because it was cheaper. Now it's 2012 and ironically both the 360 and PS3 are cheaper than the Wii. D'oh!

I still have my old Gameboy SP where I play some of my old games once in a blue moon when I want to take a trip down good memories.

I have several PS3, PS2, and PS1 games.  No Wii.  I find myself buying more vintage games than new ones lately.

Back in the day I had an Atari 2600 and an Atari Jaguar, and I'm quite familiar with NES and SNES.

These days, though, practically the only video game (well, computer game) I play is "Civilization V," though I do have emulators on my computer for both the 2600 and SNES.

I still have an old PS One console with at least 2 dozen game discs (which I use from time to time.) I also have an old Super NES console in my closet with two games (I gave away most of my SNES games to my oldest nephew who also has a Super NES at his house along with an XBOX 360 and a Wii console.)

I own several older gaming consoles and portable gaming devices, mainly from Nintendo. One of them I do own is an NES-101, which is a lesser-known and more compact design of the original Nintendo Entertainment System. It no longer works for now though because the power cord that came with it got shorted out. :(

Here are the consoles that I have:

PlayStation (original gray model with composite video out)
PlayStation One (I have two of these, one is broken)
PlayStation 2 (got it at a garage sale two years ago for $10, was broken and I managed to fix it)
GameCube (black)
Xbox (got it new in 2004)

Portables:

GameBoy Advance (arctic white)
GameBoy Advance SP (silver)
Nintendo DS (original, silver)

Don't play much video games anymore but here's what I currently own:

Gamecube (won at a bowling league in 2002)
Xbox (bought 2005)
Xbox 360 Elite (2008)
Wii (2008)
GBA SP cobalt (2003)

In the past I've owned the original Playstation, an NES, and a few older game boys. I use my 360 most to this day, and my old Xbox since I have a few games that aren't backwards compatible with the 360 (even with the latest updates).

I had a silver GameCube but I sold out many moons ago. Right now I only own a PS3 I got last March and a gray GBA SP I've had since 2005

BUMP

I guess my mind isn't as shot as I make it out to be. I knew I remember there being a thread like this, I just didn't realize it was this old. :ermm:
These are games I own/play by myself, w/ my niece, or anyone in general on my Wii U console. I think it's VERY clear from the list where my bias is (), but honestly I enjoy playing just about any genre of gaming as long as it's fun and enjoyable. It doesn't take much to impress me.

Wii U
Physical Disks
-New Super Mario Bros U + Super Luigi U (Included in the NSMBU Wii U Bundle)
-Mario Kart 8 (in addition to DLC I bought)
-Super Smash Bros 4 (For a SSB newbie, my niece kicks some serious butt in this game. This is her favorite game)
-Mario Party 10
-Mass Effect 3
-Ninja Gaiden 3:Razor's Edge
-Call of Duty: Black Ops II
-Assassin's Creed III
-Need for Speed: Most Wanted U
-Super Mario 3D World
-Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games
-Wheel of Fortune
-The Price is Right (Virtual Wii Mode)
-Super Mario Galaxy (Virtual Wii Mode)

Digital Downloads (Nintendo eShop App)
-The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker HD (I got this for free as part of a Mario Kart 8 promotion where if you pre-ordered/registered Mario Kart 8 on Club Nintendo, you could choose Windwaker HD among 3 other games you could download for free.)
-Super Mario Kart (SNES; Virtual Console)
-Mario Kart: Super Circuit (GBA; Virtual Console)
-Mario Kart DS (DS; Virtual Console)
-Super Mario World (SNES; Virtual Console)
-Super Mario Advance (GBA; Virtual Console)
-Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 (GBA; Virtual Console)

-Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Virtual Wii Mode)
-Wii Sports Club
-Swords and Soldiers
-Kung Fu Rabbit
-Cloudberry Kingdom
-Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition

I was very unhappy when Wii discontinued online play.  The online services actually started to disappear less than a year after I bought it.  (Yes, I'm a late bloomer.)  I especially miss the online voting.

Oh you mean the Wii's "Everybody Votes Channel"? Oh man that's a classic. Yeah it is quite disappointing Wiiconnect24 was discontinued. I loved the Forecast Channel that was provided. I think WNI Weathernews provided weather conditions & forecasts for that channel. I wish the Wii U had the amazing channels that the Wii had.

I think Nintendo made a blunder with the WiiU.  It's not a bad machine in and of itself, but it's not what it could have been.  Disconnecting pretty much everything about the Wii (thus turning it into, basically, a Wii Mini, except for the Wii Store and the internet browser) to kind of force people to upgrade or do without... that was a mistake.  The fact that the upgrade seems like the project lost direction somewhere in the middle doesn't help, either.

I believe I remember reading an article a couple of years ago that said they didn't plan/develop the Wii U as extensively as they should have, in other words, I think they rushed it out to get a head start on Microsoft and Sony and figured since 100 million+ Wii consoles had been sold, most would automatically jump on board to the Wii U. They went from the best selling video game console in their history with the Wii to the worst selling video game console in their history with the Wii U. It may not even reach the Gamecube, which was the worst selling Nintendo home console before the Wii U came out. Some of the things that I have read about their next platform code named the "NX" makes me optimistic they won't be making some of the same mistakes again. I can't wait to hear more about this platform come 2016.

From my understanding it's suppose to be a device that bridges together gaming/membership accounts among tablets, smartphones, PCs, Wii U, and the 3DS. The only thing we don't know is if the NX is a console, a portable handheld, or a hybrid of both. We're not gonna get a clear answer until sometime next year anyway.

It'll certainly be interesting to see what their new console is.  Hopefully they'll have learned some lessons from the WiiU, too.  Granted, it doesn't have to be another Xbox or PlayStation - they have their niches, and Nintendo can have its own, too... but they need to figure out what that niche is first... before they come out with yet another console.

This isn't about video games, but since it is related to Nintendo (sad news unfortunately) I figured I would post it here anyway. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata died this weekend from cancer (bile duct). He was 55 years old.

I traded in my Xbox One this past Friday to Gamestop for store credit which I used to pay 2/3 of the cost toward a Playstation 4 instead. I really liked the Xbox One, but I didn't love it. Ah well, I took a risk/chance since I never played/owned any Xbox system prior it just didn't pay off for me unfortunately.

Just an update to my list...new stuff is in bold blue.

I don't have a complete list... but here's just a few games that I can think of. I have older systems as well, but I'd have to dig out the cartridges to list them (SNES and Sega Genesis... sorry guys, the Genesis is better in my opinion :smoke2: ). I also have an original fat version of the PS2 from when it launched. Still works great, just lost all of my games except for Grand Theft Auto Vice City.

Xbox 360:
-Grand Theft Auto IV
-Grand Theft Auto V
-Fallout New Vegas
-Portal 2 (LOVE LOVE LOVE this game. Hope a Portal 3 comes out!)
-Halo 3
-NHL 13 (Controls suck... as they did in NHL 2015 imo)
-FIFA 13 (Sold... didn't enjoy it at all)
-Doom II: Hell On Earth (I don't own this, but my buddy and I always play this on his house and is a fun port from the old PC version)
-Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare

Xbox One:
-Destiny (All DLCs... LOVE!!)
-Halo Master Collection (Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, Halo 4)
-Mortal Kombat X
-Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag
-Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition
-Watchdogs (I personally hate the physics engine so I don't play it much at all)

On my list of games to buy...
-Fallout 4 (Xbox One)
-Halo 5 Guardians (Xbox One... obviously as it's an exclusive :P)
-Borderlands Handsome Edition (Xbox One)

Well, I bought Halo 5: Guardians last night for my Xbox One (as it's an exclusive). I'm very impressed... there's some great additions to the game since Halo 4 and the frame rate is substantially better, and I can tell just from playing. If anyone has an Xbox One on here and is contemplating buying it... I say go for it. It's a lot of fun

Did you recently just get a Wii U? I don't think the Splatoon bundle has been out that long. Speaking of Splatoon, is it good? I've been on the fence about getting this game since it came out. Splatoon may be the first and only Wii U game where I haven't heard any negative reviews (so far). It's great to see a new first party IP from Nintendo doing so well, hopefully they're experiment with more new IPs. Also half of your Wii U games I've been on the fence about. (Super Mario Maker, Yoshi's Wolly World, DKC: Tropical Freeze, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker) The only one I think I can guarantee I'll get is Super Mario Maker.

I purchased the Wii U Splatoon bundle at Best Buy on the day it was released. Splatoon is a great and fun game but you need good internet access to enjoy the game as it is mostly an online game. Super Mario Maker is also a fun game as you can spend multiple hours creating levels and playing other people's levels.

These are some games I've gotten over the past 6 months...

Wii U
Physical Discs
Super Mario Maker
Yoshi's Woolly World

Digital Downloads
Rayman Legends
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64; Virtual Console)
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (GBA; Virtual Console)
Word Search by POWGI
Donkey Kong Country (SNES; Virtual console)
Ducktales: Remastered
Shovel Knight

*I'm just 10 gold coins short of getting Super Mario 64 to download from My Nintendo. I never owned or played on a N64 (basically went from the SNES to the Gamecube) so I never got to play this game, I'm curious to see if it lives up to the hype of being one of the best Mario games of all time.

* I  haven't really brought any 3DS XL games over the past 6 months (physical or digital), but I have played some demo games of games I'm on the fence about buying.

Playstation 4
Physical Discs
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (got the PS4 bundle that included this)
Far Cry 4
Need for Speed Rivals

Digital Downloads
Tales from the Borderlands Episodes 1-5 (Episode 1 was free to download since I was/am a PS+ member)
The Walking Dead: Season Two (Free w/ PS+ membership)
Monopoly

You're gonna love Super Mario 64! Ive played it on both the N64 and Wii U, with the classic pro controller, Wii U is way better in terms of it fitting in. Although Sunshine is the greatest Mario game of all time for me. :) I've had Mario maker since December, I just recently got Splatoon, it's pretty fun, and addictive. I have the digital version of Mario 64 and Mario Kart Super Circuit. I'm pretty much a die-hard nintendo fan, more specifically mario fan. :) I also bought Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 both digital versions. I've played Mario Kart 8 to the point where I can play any course any class blindfolded backwards. Yeah when you have nothing to do and no school for 8 months that's what your time gets devoted to. :) I have a bunch of other various digital games that I haven't played in a while. I recently broke out my GameCube to play Mario Party 7 and Luigi's Mansion. I'm more into Dolphin on my PC for hacking and video recording capabilities, well that and I can play Dobutsu no mori E+ without having to buy a Japanese port. How is Yoshi's Wooly World? I'm considering buying it.

Speaking of Super Mario Maker, if you want to you can check out one of the levels I made. It's called, "Boo-tiful Terrorhouse". It's a Ghosthouse level. The other 4 levels I uploaded are levels collaborated between me and my niece.

Also, if you're good enough to breeze through say 200cc on Mario Kart 8 with ease then I praise you. :worship: I'm a pro at every class from 50cc to Mirror mode in Grand Prix, but 200cc severely bruises my ego.

There's a rumor Luigi's Mansion 3 is in the works for the NX (along with some Wii U game ports, Mario Maker and Splatoon rumored to be two of them.) The more rumors I hear about the NX, the more excited/hyped I get. The only con is, they're rumors so..... :hmm: I hope we hear something about the NX at E3 this June so we can put some of these rumors to rest.

I don't know what it is about Super Mario Sunshine, but I didn't like it for some reason. I never owned it when I had my Gamecube, the first time I played it, I rented it from Blockbuster (anybody even remembers Blockbuster?) and the second time was when I was in middle school in the 6th grade I borrowed the game from a friend. Neither time could I get that interested in playing it, I mean I REALLY tried, but it wasn't that fun to me.

How is Yoshi's Wooly World? I'm considering buying it.

Yoshi's Woolly World is pretty good imo. Graphically, I think it's one of the most visually appealing Wii U games thus far. Honestly, if you like Yoshi's Island games, you'll like Yoshi's Woolly World.

Yeah I'll check that out, I haven't played it in a few weeks, I forget what I even made, a lot of them are just scribbly made courses and a few that are pretty crazy. :) Please I'm at the point of wishing they'd make a 200cc mirror mode already. The only track that I can never come to terms with is Neo Bowser City, 200cc and those turns, that was a battle! :) Although considering that the game is already 2 years old, (prehistoric in Wii U terms :) ) I find it hard to believe they have anything left for that game, I imagine NX is the big focus right now. Yes I am praying the Luigi's Mansion 3 rumor is true. I have played the original and Dark Moon to extent as well. I am right there with you, the more that the rumors are confirmed fake, only heighten my excitement to find out what the heck it is. My bet is on the home console with a handheld tablet that can be taken further than 15 feet away. I can't see them not saying *anything* at E3 the least I see them doing is shedding light on what it isn't and maybe a sketch of it, but seeing as though it was announced over a year ago, it is probably is ready to be displayed. Yeah with Sunshine it seems to e a hit or miss with fans, there are die-hard fans like me and this other site I am affiliated with, and people who just couldn't get into it. I've come to accept that. :) Yes I remember Blockbuster, I went there, circa 2007, and found a guide for Super Mario Galaxy and I asked the guy how much it was and he said "that actually isn't supposed to be on the shelf anymore you can just take it if you want", and there went my summer. Yeah I think Wooly World will be my next purchase. Are you into those amiibo things? I could never really get into the figurines, I have like 3 but they are in a box deep in my closet collecting dust. The Animal Crossing cards I collect though, probably because I collected E-reader cards, anyone remember those? So it was like a revival of them for me. Have you ever played Wario World? I've done a speedrun of the game and finished just shy of 3 hours! That was after a week of non-stop playing it.

Neo Bowser City is one of my favorite DLC courses, If I'm doing 200cc on that course I have to play as a lightweight character and a kart for the exact reason you mentioned, those sharp turns. I seem to do better with that combination.

Although considering that the game is already 2 years old, (prehistoric in Wii U terms :) ) I find it hard to believe they have anything left for that game, I imagine NX is the big focus right now.

Yeah, that's one of the disappointing things about MK8, I would have liked to have seen it get the kind of DLC support that Super Smash Bros Wii U/3DS has gotten. MK (along with Smash) has always been my all-time favorite franchises. I would have loved to have seen more retro courses, particularly from MK:Super Circuit, Sunset Wilds (and the music in a lot of the courses) was always one of my favorites. Not too surprised Super Circuit didn't get a lot of love in MK8, it seems to be the black sheep of the franchise by MK fans. Why I don't know, I felt like Mario Kart Wii was the worst MK game followed by Mario Kart Double Dash.

Yes I am praying the Luigi's Mansion 3 rumor is true. I have played the original and Dark Moon to extent as well.

There's like a million rumors floating around, but this is one of two I believe. Only because there were rumors Dark Moon was going to be on the Wii U (until it was revealed for the 3DS  d'oh!). According to the rumor, LM3 was initially a Wii U game that got scrapped for the NX instead because of poor Wii U sales. Not too far fetched to believe. I think the rumor about the NX being on par or powerful than the PS4 is likely true as well, but that might not mean much if the rumors are true about the PS4 being modified for 4K resolution, that will likely mean a more powerful PS4 anyway.

I'm torn on this, a year ago I was thinking a Wii U/3DS type hybrid. Now I'm thinking we'll have something similar to the Wii U Gamepad (likely slimmer in thickness like an iPad or Amazon Kindle maybe) with physical buttons/sticks where you can download a digital copy of games you play on the NX console at home and play them on the go away from home if that's possible to do. It would be better than outright streaming games via internet connection because not all locations you travel to have stable, reliable internet.

Are you into those amiibo things? I could never really get into the figurines, I have like 3 but they are in a box deep in my closet collecting dust.

I have two, Mario (Super Smash Bros Edition) and Rosalina & Luma (Super Smash Bros Edition). I had to get the Roaslina (European version) online from Amazon imported from Germany. Scalpers hijacked the prices on the North American version to like 70 bucks. They're not in the case anymore, but they are as well just collecting dust. I bought them out of curiosity for Smash Bros and Mario Party 10 to try out Amiibo Mode on there when I play MP10 with my niece. I only used it on Smash Bros Wii U once (never bothered trying it on the 3DS version) and I used it once on MK8 to unlock the Mario and Rosalina Mii Character costumes. I think most people buy Amiibos for collection purposes than for the compatible games themselves.

The Animal Crossing cards I collect though, probably because I collected E-reader cards, anyone remember those?

I had e-Reader cards for Super Mario Bros. 3 (Gameboy Advance Version) for my GBA, but I never used them to play the bonus levels because I didn't own the e-Reader device that connects to your GBA.

Have you ever played Wario World? I've done a speedrun of the game and finished just shy of 3 hours! That was after a week of non-stop playing it.

No, I've never really looked into Wario World.

This is from August, I had it set to a team battle, 200cc, hard COM players, and the items set to frantic mode. You see me pass Bowser at the end he was in 7th place when I crossed the line.

That's too bad its a very under rated game, largely due to the fact how short it was. It had one of the best game soundtracks I've ever heard, If you like jazz you'll fall in love with it.

Yeah That's what I've been thinking, NX, even the name is intriguing, I'm sure a name change is coming, since it has been labeled codename NX. I really think the LM3 is possible, they've got my pre-order the day it's announced. Another sad fact about Nintendo is they're waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy behind the rest of the world. The lost that race with the Wii U which I'm sure they've realized, so even if the NX has glamourous graphics, it will always be one console upgrade behind the rest, I don't think they'll ever pull out of that rut.  Dragon Driftway is oddly my favorite DLC course. I am a living representative for lighting, Christmas, household and commercial, public, carnival ride lighting, they are just what I live for, matter of fact, and I'm not joking, my first word was light, my dad said he was setting up the Christmas tree and I just pointed to the lights and here I am today with a December electric bill of over $1,000 and a garage and attic full of lights. For every holiday and just year round use lights. Anyways back to MK8 the flashing Chinese lanterns are what got me in that course, plus I love the music and overall look of the course. How would you rate Mario Party 10? I might go either way with Wooly World or MP 10.

Very impressive, I think this 15/16 year MK veteran should be taking some pointers from you.

I don't know how Mario Party 10 improves compared to MP9 since I never played it. Mario Party 10 is decent, but it still pales in comparison to old school Mario Party from the N64/Gamecube era. The 6 boards in Mario Party mode are nice and the boards are very colorful and vibrant graphically. Overall, the gameplay is not bad, better than I expected. Bowser Mode is...interesting if not at times frustrating. I won't give too much away, but whether you choose to play on Team Mario or Team Bowser, Bowser clearly has the bigger advantage either way. Amiibo Mode is...boring to be honest. It's a half-baked attempt to save face at making a traditional Mario Party mode from old school Mario Party games where the goal is to get to the star space to collect the star for the standard 20 coins which is disappointing since you're literally just moving around a square board turn after turn. I wouldn't bother with this mode unless you want to out of curiosity.

Another con: MP10 could have better if it had of gotten some DLC in the form of mini-games. I feel like the mini games overall were lacking. They're good, but not enough especially the Battle and Bowser Mini Games.

Mario Party 10: 6 out of 10
Yoshi's Woolly World: 8 out of 10

Sorry for getting back so late, I've been very busy lately, Yeah I will most likely choose Woolly World. MP10 didn't really impress me that much that's why I was wondering. Did you hear about the NX coming out in March 2017? Also to the fact that the Wii U Zelda will also be Released on the NX, they're going to be released in tandem according to what I read. They made a statement that makes me believe the LM3 rumor to be true even more. They said the reason the NX is releasing in March 2017 after the holiday shopping season is because we feel we will not have a games library that will make people want to go out and buy the system at that point, this is a system that is going to last for years, so we want to have an ample supply of games to dish out during its run. I haven't had the chance to check out your SMM course yet, sorry finals for the next two weeks, I'll get around to it eventually.

Yeah, that March 2017 release date kinda blindsided me. I was feeling pretty certain Holiday 2016 would be a lock for the NX. It actually does make sense to wait until 2017 though because if they released the NX at the end of the 2016, they would be competing against Sony and their Playstation VR headsets, possibly a newer PS4 console (supporting 4K graphics), and possibly a newer Xbox One model (which is rumored to be shown off for E3 in June). I really wanted it to come out around November since my birthday will be on Thanksgiving this year. If it turns out to be good as it's rumored to be I definitely want to get one. Oh well, at least we'll get to hear more about the NX sometime this year as promised at a separate press event, hopefully sooner than later.

I'm somewhat annoyed that this Zelda Wii U game is being delayed for what the 50th time now just so it can be released with Zelda NX next year. The funny thing is I'm not even that much of a Zelda fan, the first Zelda game I ever played was Windwaker HD and that was 2 years ago! I just feel bad for the folks who are hardcore fans and also own the Wii U because you get the sense that Nintendo is saying FU to it's Wii U owners who have waited patiently (to put it lightly) for this game. Unless they feel the Wii U version won't be polished enough for release later this year, I don't see the need to delay this version for another year for the NX version. I mean for christ sakes, they're planning to show only Zelda Wii U (not NX) at E3!  Having the Wii U version release this year would have been a nice final hurrah game for the console (and the 30th Zelda anniversary for that matter)

Also, I forgot to mention this before, but I think it's a safe bet to say Pikmin 4 is likely coming to the NX as well, Miyamoto comfirmed the game was in development last summer.

There's no rush, check it out whenever you feel like it or have the time and good luck on your finals!

Yeah it was a September 2013 game release date by Nintendo and then it was set for holiday 2014 which people were mad that it was so delayed, it is aggregating. I'm no Zelda fan either, it just wasn't my thing I guess. Yeah, they are making some pretty circus decisions on what to do at E3.

My wishes for the NX :

GameCube Virtual console releases
Luigis Mansion 3
A new Animal Crossing
Super Mario Galaxy 3 which Miyamoto has been teasing for a couple years
A super Mario Sunshine remake or sequel
Another Mario Kart would be enticing
Typical Nintendo spinoff that are fun for like a month then you never play again. ( you know what I'm talking about :) )
Either another Wario Land or Wario world for that matter
A mario party where the characters roll seperately and aren't in a makeshift car. AKA something similar to MP7 the best mario party in my opinion.
A new 3d mario platformer not some sidescroller, I'm tired of those I miss the roaming SM64 and SMS gave you, well even SMG for that matter.

Then I would consider the NX to be successful. What about you what would you like to see?

Yeah pretty soon, thanks I need all the help I can get with Algebra now, it's not that I don't get it, it's just I have my own method on how to find the answer, I get it right, but they want me to solve it with their method which is what is dragging me down. Hence the aggregation with Common Core everyone complains about. :)

I was never enticed by pikmin how good is it? Have you ever played it?

Really? I didn't know that I thought it was originally supposed to come out in 2014. I guess that's why they threw out a HD remake of Windwaker that year instead.

Then I would consider the NX to be successful. What about you what would you like to see?
-Cloud storage for the NX (for reassurance so I have a way of re-downloading games/save file w/ ease)
-Themed Wallpaper BGs like the 3DS has (I think the Wii U was supposed to have this, but I guess Nintendo scrapped it)
-Gamecube games on the Virtual Console PLEASE! (This is the only retro console not on the Wii U right now)
-A sequel to Super Mario 3D World, way better than New Super Mario Bros U
-If they're thinking of making another NSMBros game, I would rather they do a sequel to Super Luigi U, at least that was more challenging and engaging.
-A 3D Mario game in general, it doesn't have to be a sequel to anything. It could be a brand new concept.
-Gotta have Mario Kart/Smash Bros. That's a make or break deal for me. lol
-I would love to see Luigi get another solo game (Luigi's Mansion, Super Luigi U sequel or something brand new would be nice) He's my favorite Mario bro out of the four, he should be explored on his own more often w/o having to be a sidekick to Mario all the time.
-If they make another Mario Party game I hope it goes back to it's roots from the N64/Gamecube era.
-They should bring back some version of the Digital Deluxe Promotion permanently for the NX and expand on it.
-If they bring back Mii/Mii Maker (which they likely will) they should offer more features/customizations. It's too generic.
-Either backwards compatibility with Wii U games or something where you can put in a physical Wii U disk and download a digital copy of the game for free from the eShop.
-Speaking of Nintendo eShop, I hope all the games available now will be available on the NX and the ones you've downloaded on the Wii U can be transferred over in a simple manner.
-Some more 3rd party games would be nice (whether they're rated E to M doesn't matter to me as long as it's good).

There's probably more, but that's all I can think of right now.

I was never enticed by pikmin how good is it? Have you ever played it?

I never played Pikmin 1 or 2 on the Gamecube/Wii, but I did download and play a demo of Pikmin 3 on the Wii U. It's pretty good from what I was allowed to play in the demo. I wanted to buy it, but it's nearly impossible to find a physical copy for a reasonable price. It's a good thing Nintendo has made Pikmin 3 and DK: Tropical Freeze a Nintendo Selects collection since that means they'll be $19.99 each. I'm going to get both sometime soon.

I forgot to ask, do you have Animal Crossing New Leaf?

No, but it's on my "maybe" list. I never played Animal Crossing games, but I've always been curious about them. Is New Leaf good?

Yeah I remember laughing about that when I read the March 2017 release. I mean the game was originally showed off in 2011 as a tech demo so we're going to be 6 years in developement. Yikes..... :)

I think everyone has alot riding on the NX right now because of nintendo's recent rocky status and even more "on the rocks" future., and because no one knows what it is yet. Yeah snag Pikmin at 20$ I bought a sealed SMS for 70$ about 8 years ago, if the packaging label is correct last I checked it's selling for 2,500$ on eBay right now and collecting websites. It has that VGA status or whatever I've got it on display, I'm selling it one day but to probably start something in my life. Coming from a Die hard animal crossing fan, it is a must have, it fixed the problems Wild World and City Folk had, but the GameCube version Population Growing is a God of a game, so to speak it's what started animal crossing and it never gets old. But new leaf is amazing if you do get new leaf I have LOADS and LOADS of bells I'll set you up and you can visit my town and take as much as ypu want, once you see my town your jaw will probably drop, it's one if my life accomplishments. I highly recommend New Leaf it's great. Say goodbye to literally your life. So worth it though :) yeah they have to be working a 3d mario by now. Speaking of 3d world I have completed every level with every character including champions road without powerups. That was a fun no sleep week. :) I have everything maxed out.  I hated the ultimate green star mystery house at the end, how many times I threw stuff because I ran out of time but was so close. Looking back I laugh at it though. Now where do you stand on musical tracks from Mario Games?

This is my Dobutsu no mori e+ town, aka Population Growing,  the music brings back so many memories of being little and playing this with my sister in her bedroom, ahhh.... but anyways The animal crossing series is phenomenal to me, but everyone has differing tastes but it is just as popular as mario, considering the mario team basically created the series. I don't have a more recent video my pc controller has been busted and I'm still looking for a replacement. Speaking of the mario tracks animal crossing has just as great tracks if you want to hear some let me know I find them online.

Thanks, I'll definitely consider giving Animal Crossing: New Leaf a try, but first I have to buy another micro SD card for my New Nintendo 3DS XL. I'm not really a completionist, in fact I don't think I have even attempted to play Champions Road because I've seen beforehand how insane that level is. I would likely destroy my Gamepad. As far as musical tracks from Mario games I feel Mario Kart games have the best musical tracks of any Mario game I've ever played imo(especially MK8). I find myself humming the music often while I'm racing, they're very catchy.

These are my favorite ones from all 8...
Super Mario Kart
Mario Circuit
Donut Plains
Choco Island
Vanilla Lake
Rainbow Road of course!

Mario Kart 64

Kalimari Desert
Toad's Turnpike

Yeah I'm not either it's just I have nothing to do and I get sucked in. :) haha but really that's how I felt alot of times. How is the New 3ds XL I have the original 2011 3ds and a 2ds but I've been hesitant on whether I should get one or not, the Animal crossing Happy Home designer edition is what I've got my sights set on. Yeah Mario Kart tracks are probably the best, I've never played MK DS or 64 I was going to say Super MK as well but I forgot Super Circuit has all the tracks from it in it. You basically listed my favorites :) I did like the original Yoshi circuit, and sherbert lands remix in 8 is amazing. I think it had the best soundtracks because it's the first Mario Kart to have orchestra composed soundtracks. Did you like the tracks in Mario Galaxy? Those I hum to as well. People ask me what song that is and I have to think what to say them.

I can't compare the New Nintendo 3DS XL to the original 3DS since this is my first time owning a 3DS. I got mine from Amazon back in October last year. So far after 6 months, I love it! My only regret is the fact of waiting so long to get a 3DS period. Before the 3DS, I still had a Gameboy Advance SP.  I would recommend downloading and playing MK64 and MKDS from the virtual console on the Wii U, they're both great MK games in the franchise. The musical tracks in Mario Galaxy are great as well, the music and the game itself is very cinematic imo. That's why I feel it's a sad shame the game wasn't in glorious HD. The sequel came out in 2010 so I always wonder if maybe the Wii U would have done a little better (in sales) if the sequel had of been held off a couple of years as a launch title for the console and made clear that it was a Wii U exclusive game. Nevertheless, they should consider doing a HD remaster of both Galaxy games for the Wii U or NX.

I heard about this rumor last year, but now it's been confirmed...

Nintendo is going to the big screen, the first (of possibly many) Nintendo movie(s) is expected within the next 2-3 years.

I wonder if any of these movies will be adaptations of their most popular games or something completely brand new?

EDIT: Also Nintendo is currently in the beginning stages of working on a Nintendo Themed Amusement Park for Universal Studios, but I think the first one is being constructed in Japan(?) not completely sure, but I heard rumored that the Universal Studios in FL is also getting a Nintendo Theme Park as well.

Yeah I read about the movie thing, however for it to be real, a mario one would have to have minimal speaking and largely subtitles, who knows maybe they can pull it off right with whole lines. Yeah I remember reading after the Japan park opens they plan to put one in Florida and possibly other parks at a later time. What do you think they'll call the place? They'd have to be pretty dull to miss out on the gold mine of a name nintendoland.

They could do a Mario movie and have most of the characters talk at a decent length and it would work imo. We have a good general idea what most of the characters (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, etc.) would sound like anyway. I don't know if they'll consider doing TV shows also, but they have great IPs that would probably work well in that medium instead of as movies like Splatoon for example. I could easily see Splatoon being made as a cartoon series for Nickelodeon, likewise with Zelda, DK, F-Zero, and Animal Crossing.

Yeah, that would make the most sense, I'm sure Nintendo will be in the name in some sort of way.

You know the one thing nintendo said, that their mission is to continually surprise us... they may have just done it again. I'm not sure if you saw the "cryptic" tweet nintendo made about mario kart 8. It's a screenshot from Mk64 of kalmari desert, titled as "good things come to those who wait". But it's hash tagged with MK8. Possible DLC is what they're saying. This late, it makes sense plus with E3 less than 2 weeks away. I have to say it would really surprise me, but would be awesome. I'm keeping my eyes on Nintendo.

It would be cool to see MK8 get more DLC, it's still one of my go to games to play eventhough it's been over a year since the last DLC pack. I'm mainly interested in retro tracks in DLC form, but it wouldn't hurt to get some new (retro) characters too.

Also I gotta say I'm getting pretty sick and tired of hearing NX rumors right about now. I'm gradually losing interest. (God I hope that rumor about the NX being delayed for VR isn't true)

I can say with a straight face that all the virtual reality and other crap rumors are indeed crap. Miyamoto and other nintendo developers have given strong opinions against VR and those aspects even calling it stupid, the delay is they don't want a wii u repeat. AKA no games lineup at launch. Or better yet a games lineup at that. Don't worry you know nintendo, somehow in the end they dazzle and shock everyone.look at the wii u it was shocking hoe badly it performed, yet dazzled and shocked with MK8. if history can repeat Nintendo is doing a superb job at following that standard.

I have faith in them. I don't have anything against virtual reality whether it's something they want to do in the future or not. I'm always technologically curious about any new technical product. I just don't want that or anything else that could turn out to be gimmicky for them to be the main attraction. Just give me a nice console with great games, it doesn't take much to satisfy me.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to ask this before, but how did your final exams turn out?

Gosh sorry it came off that way, I was getting across the fact that some articles are titled " NX delay confirmed for favor in VR"  When we both know thats 99.9% wrong. IDK VR just seems kind of seperate from gaming like I prefer hands on gaming more than virtual gaming.

I'm not sure I don't find out until August when I get find out which classes I go into, all I can say is I most likely bombed my math one.

Anyways tomorrow is Nintendo's one and only basically E3 day. Your thoughts? All I'm looking in for is some minor things not related to Zelda and hopefully MK8 DLC news. :)

I figured I make this as another reply bur I never got the chance to ask what do you even think the NX is?

I'm leaning towards its either a smartphone line by nintendo, a handheld mobile/home console hybrid, or like it'd own cloud, where games and data are added and the console can change and keep alot of data and I mean ALOT and hold so much internally, hopefully you see where I'm going with this.

I'm more in favor of the latter two.

No need to be sorry, I get what you were saying. I wouldn't get too worried about your math exam, it may turn out to be all in your head. I know there were tests/exams I thought I did poorly on and when I got the results I was surprised to see I passed.

As far as E3 for Nintendo, I'm curious to see Zelda (and finally get an official name) just because I'm wondering how much it's evolved since the first time we saw some obscure footage of the gameplay from nearly 2 years ago. Maybe we'll hear something about Paper Mario, it's like that game doesn't exist anymore because there hasn't been much about it in a few months. I also agree that I hope we'll get some MK8 DLC news. Other than that, my expectations are set very low for any surprises.

I figured I make this as another reply bur I never got the chance to ask what do you even think the NX is?

Ever since last year when I heard about the NX, my initial thoughts was that I always assumed it was just a console and a direct successor to the Wii U regardless of what the rumors said. At this point, I don't know what to think. I've said it before, but I'm just sick and tired of hearing rumors, I wanna hear some facts on what the heck the NX is.

What I hope the NX is...well a console. The hybrid concept is fine if they can get it to work right though, but I would rather keep the console and handheld platforms separate. There are some other things I hope the NX will be.....

-A uniformed account system. We already can link (one of) our Wii U accounts to the 3DS to share personal account info on both platforms and eShop monetary balances. You should be able to not only share the same games/cross buy on both platforms along with cloud storage for games (whether it turns out to be a hybrid system or not) but also transfer your Wii U and/or 3DS account(s) along with the downloaded games/save files onto the NX with ease. So the foundation is already there now, why not finish building the house? lol

-They should offer something similar to PS+ and Xbox Live where they offer a free first, second, and/or third party game, an indie game, and a virtual console game for free on a monthly basis. They may not do this because of My Nintendo though, but it would be a nice incentive if you're willing to pay for a subscription to access extra perks.

-Speaking of My Nintendo, they should bring back the Digital Deluxe Promotion, except it needs to be restructured and work in conjunction to My Nintendo. I don't think a $5 eShop credit is a fair trade off after earning thousands of points. It should be structured where you get $10, maybe even $20 eShop credit as an incentive also.

Nintendo's unfortunately going to go the way of Sega if they keep playing around with these fancy new consoles instead of concentrating on what really matters.  That is to say, the games!  At this rate, I expect that five years down the road you'll see a Zelda game on the (speculative) new PS5 or XB2 developed by Nintendo for those systems because there may not be a Nintendo console.

I'm afraid you may be right. If the NX ends up in the same boat as the Wii U, it may be time for them to seriously consider getting out of the console business and just focus on software (games) and maybe handhelds. In comparison to the Wii U, the 3DS has done remarkably well, selling over 60 million units despite having a rocky first year on the market 5 years ago. The only problem is I think Nintendo would rather see pigs fly and hell freeze over before they publish and distribute one single Mario or Zelda game on a Playstation or XBOX system.

Breath of the Wild may be the first Day 1 buy for me since MK8 on the Wii U. I'm impressed with what I've seen from E3 footage from Nintendo/GameXplain. Open world suits the Zelda series very well. Plus the music in this game is just...awesome! I'm in love with that alone. There's a million other things I could list that I like from what I've seen so far, but I don't want this post to get too much longer. :P

This is my favorite one that I've heard from the E3 demo.

One hilariously weird thing I learned about the game
-Apparently Link can be played naked.  I'm assuming it's "underwear" naked and not true "bare butt" naked, but who knows it could be both. Link is out in the open wild after all.

No VR, and I hope it stays that way, unless the VR doesn't detract from the quality of games that are made.  VR just doesn't appeal to me right now.  I want to play games just to play them, not because I want them to look exactly like real life.  If I want to see real life, I'll step outside and get some sunshine (if that's still a thing).  When I want to kick back and play a game, I'm not always concerned about it looking like reality.

They're re-releasing the NES console (in miniature form) with 30 classic NES games.

If the SNES were to get a re-release like this then I would be sold. :D SNES will always hold a special place in my heart since it's the first Nintendo console I played on as a little kid back in the 90s. I love to be able to play on one again even if it is modernized from the original SNES.

Black New 3DS XL, the white just stands out more which makes it look nicer that's all. I think Japan already had that smaller white New 3DS XL version for a while now.

Also I'm tempted to get that Captain Toad + Amiibo bundle. Not sure if the game is all that good or not, I mainly want it for the Toad Amiibo (for collection purposes).

Yes I saw that too, as a matter of fact I'll bet my money on the 21st, but you know Nintendo. Sorry I seem like I've been gone for a while, I have. hahah lol But I still check from time to time. Whats funny, and you can call me a liar, but I got my original 3ds on October 21st 2011, I remember the date because I was sick and missed out on going somewhere with my class so my grandma bought it to make me feel better XD. Funny how that seems like it was only like two days ago. I read the rumor on Mario being part of the campaign to launch the NX, I hope this is true, as well as I hope for a 3d mario platformer, we're waaaaayy overdue, no more side scrollers, or time restraints. I want to fall asleep in the middle of a level and wake up the next day without it being reset. lol

That's a great first choice, that was the first physical game I got with my 3DS XL a year ago. When I heard there was going to be a 3DS version, I thought it was going to be bad, but it's actually just as good as the Wii U version. I think the 3DS version is better if you like to play Smash solo though.

You know, its not so much that I 'm dying to know what but more just the fact of not knowing it, is whats killing me, and I'm sure everyone else. Counting down to 10 am like its New Years Eve. haha I'm going in like I haven't read any rumors so I'm more conditioned to it not being what we've pictured lol.

iT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE PICTURED.lol oh my gosh and king boo racing in yoshi circuit, maybe mario kart 9 and that 3d mario, where and when can I get it, its so cool, its amazing.

Ok I've calmed down, just super hyped, and the mario kart, yes two item boxes and finally king boo, hes my favorite next to metal mario. The mario game looks like a super mario 64, galaxy, and 3d world crossover. beautiful animation and the triple jump, finally is back, Im almost certain its finally the platformer we've been waiting for. Also on the ntoe of mario kart, it's either an updated port, or a full blown sequel, maybe MK9. The trees and sky are different from MK8 and the characters and textures match that of similar ones in the mystery mario game. the karts are also slightly different, they're "thicker", if that even makes sense.

Wow, color me impressed.

Although this has to be Nintendo's worst kept secret since a lot of this stuff was leaked weeks/months ago.

The rumors about a Gamepad 2.0, detachable controllers, and game cartridges turned out to be true.

The Mario game looks....different and unique which is a great thing. You can't say for sure from looking at a quick peek, but it seems like they may be breaking from the norm from past Mario games. It looks somewhat open world.

I think MK is likely a Wii U port (similar to Windwaker and TP on the Wii U) , I don't think it's going to be MK9. MK, SSB4 Wii U/3DS and Splatoon were rumored to be ported over to the NX Switch.

Hmm, I may have to put Switch on my wishlist for 2017.

Nintendo never fails to surprise us do they?  Im excited, tbh I haven't been this excited since the wii. The far background and purple collectibles and heart? make me question what this game is, the one with like the town seems open world yet with the bullet bill and coin rings seems more sidescrollish which I dont like. Yes the MK port I think is amazing, I think it'll just be a massive continuation and remake of all past MK tracks and a few new ones until everything is modernized, so to say. All Im waiting on is Animal Crossing and dream come true more hd gamecube remakes. Notes of Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion if you will lol.

The good thing you can take from it is this 3D Mario game looks less "restrictive" meaning in 3D World there was a limit to just how far you could roam around in levels especially if you were playing multiplayer. This 3D Mario doesn't look like that (at least I hope not). It looks very much SM64 fused with 3D World elements which is not a bad thing imo.

The Wii U was everything I wanted the Wii to be and the Switch (looks to be) everything I wanted the Wii U to be lol.

That tablet and Switch Pro Controller tho!

Ghostrobo (youtube) was right, it does look similar to a Xbox One Controller.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I wouldn't be surprised if physical 3DS games end up being backwards compatible with Nintendo Switch since we know the Switch uses cartridges similar to the 3DS. Although I'm not sure how the dual screen thing would work since that tablet is single screen and we don't know for sure if the tablet is touchscreen, I'm just assuming it may be.

Yeah, I signed up for gamestops update thing already to get my preorder in first, yeah Ive gone this crazy, I just hope this picks up what nintendo has lost. Yes while Im getting so pent and built up on a  3d mario, were left with a very sickening reality, these could all juts be tech demos. Please I hope with everything I have its like a 64. I miss collecting power stars tbh. I know miyamoto said that SMG3 was possible for the NX, well now switch, love the name already, the detachable controllers makes this a reality. cough, spin, cough lol to be truthfully honest, I think its been too long for the super mario galaxy line, idk just contemplating this until we get the next nintendo direct with more switch info. Price is just a number to me    so Im getting mine on whatever day it comes out, although judging from the reaction, and the name, it'd sell like mad even for a christmas release. Yeah I know impossible. I like how sleek it is and the fact I love playign console games on a tablet, the only possible folly I can find with the switch is the detachable controllers getting lost broken, not connecting, etc, theyre looking at a huge customer support payout line and warranty line, they should just include two sets of detachable controllers as a precautionary. hahaha

Yeah, I heard Amazon is doing a waiting list for pre-orders on the Switch also. The HYPE is REAL.

Now that some time has passed, I figured I would point out some pros and cons that I saw from the trailer video.

+PROS
-They took the tablet controller concept and vastly improved it where the tablet is the heart and brain of the console. This is exactly what the concept of the Wii U SHOULD have been.

-I like the idea of the detachable controllers where two players can split using the L side and the other player can play with the R side. So by default you have at least two controllers from the start which is nice compared to the Wii U where it was mainly only the Game pad bundled in.

-I like the switch (no pun intended) to game cards (similar to the 3DS) and it makes sense if you're going to fuse a console/handheld experience together.

-I like that there will still be a traditional controller. Enough said.

-Other than Zelda, assuming all the other gameplay footage of games is legit, the Switch looks to have a solid library of games for 2017. I'm curious to see what other games are announced between now and March.

-3rd Party Support with some big hitters announced via a press release by Nintendo. Now the million dollar question is will they stay on board or will they immediately bail out like they did with the Wii U.

-CONS

-I'm too am concerned about the size of those Joy Cons, it seems like they would be uncomfortable to hold. That's about it for now because there's still more to learn about what the Switch is. So my opinions are subject to change.

This isn't a pro or con, but I noticed like a lot of people there were no kid actors in the Switch video. It was mainly teens and young adults. That's a very different approach from Nintendo compared to the past decade of the Wii/Wii U era where it was all about families of all ages playing together.

Long time since I've been here. But hey we finally know about the Switch haha. Mine is on pre-order with the grey joy-con. I also pre-ordered Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which I am freaking excited for. Also I'm happy to see Super Mario Odyssey isn'y just a tech demo and is going to be the open world platformer I have been waiting, and dreaming, for. The "New Donk City" seems really awesome, especially the ability to wall jump off skyscrapers and jump off of them, and too, to climb up light poles and streetlights. Hats seem to fit the theme of the game as everyone, even bowser wears one, even the creepy sims-like people. Btw throwing his cap and jumping off of it, truly genius. His moves seem perfectly melted into this decade from SM64. The purple things seem to be parts for his hat shaped ship. I did however spot what look like purple coins aside from the bolts and nuts. I hope with all my heart power stars or red coins return. They seemed to show off the biggest areas of the game and I would hope we have smaller 'sandbox' style levels not too big, not too much, and not too little. As a Mario fan I am very particular about my levels. lol Carrying on over to Splatoon 2, being marked as Spla2n by some people. I can't wait for it, I seem more excited for this than I was for the original, but that's how I always seem. MK8 Deluxe offers alot of new fun, but more so alot of the old too. King Boo, Bowser Jr. Dry Bones, and the inklings are great additions. The Question Mark character people are talking about and suggest is not unlocked yet, I beleive is the return of a random pick option. Furthermore the 'smart-steering' option seems great cosnidering how many damn times I fly off the road in 200cc. While I'm Sad no new tracks will be added, the retro battle courses and the new ones seem fun. Luigi's Mansion seem breathtaking even for Mario Kart. The double item box returning is wonderful, it took me by surprise and made me so happy. I hope future DLC comes in the future and adds Diddy Kong, Birdo, Petey Piranha and maybe the parakoopa guy. What would be fun is if they brought back the ability to have two players on one kart, almost adding a double dash mode. Bob-omb blast is great to see returning. I wish Shine runners or shine battle would return, its odd the crown for the trophy of winning battle mode has a shine sprite on it. hmmmm on that note it is rather odd miyamoto stated Odyssey is going back to the roots of Super Mario Sunshine, is something bubbling up behind the scenes in time for E3? hehe -Me planning on a Sunshine HD actually happening. I do see Gamecube games coming on the switch on the VC. Animal Crossing has to be announced at E3, and E3 seems liek its going to be Jam-packed this year after last year's paltry show. Luigi's Mansion I pray is in the cards as either a remake or a full blown 3. It has to be and especially after seeing it in the MK8D graphics it seems wonderful. I wouldn't call the galaxy series off just yet, with the IR thing on the right Joy con, the joy cons can act liek the wiimote and nunchuk for SMG3 possibly. 4 games on launch day for the Switch seems sad, even if Zelda is the main event what about the people who arent into Zelda? 1,2 Switch seems fun but you need liek 6 people to play it seems liek and the other two make no sense. Moving onto the bad, the games so far seem greta but badly spaced apart. The controls well it seems liek things are gonna be tight especially with the joysticks also how on MK8D the frame rate drops with mulltiplayer seemingly even lower with 2 players it now is liek playing with 3 or 4 also to note the dock does improve performance. I hate the online services fee, but I guess they have to make money somehow, with that they shoudl just give it anywhere servie as if it were a cellphone so you can use the internet and go online in games no matter where you are. atleast you dotn have to pay to get in the e-shop. What is your take on the switch and the games and etc etc etc?

It'll be easier to list all my pros, cons, and maybes into an organized list on the Switch. Going off the top of my head so I may forget some things.

PROS
Super Mario Odyssey - What can really be said, it was clearly one of two of the best highlights of the Switch Presentation. A TRUE 3D Mario, not this 2 or 2.5D World Mario crap (although I did and still do like 3D World :P) It was interesting to hear the producer of this game say they're drawing inspiration from Super Mario 64/Sunshine. That real world environment was cool, but weird at the same time because of the real looking people, why were they dressed like it was 1957?! The other worlds blew me away in just how gorgeous they look, especially that rainforest looking area. Lastly, I like that there appears to be a story element in this game. I don't know why Nintendo doesn't provide a good story to the gameplay of their Mario games, it could work if they put the effort in. It's refreshing.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Again, what can really be said other than WOW. Never was a big Zelda fan, but this game here......I'm gradually becoming one because I'm hyped for this Zelda game.

ARMS - It gives off a Super Smash Bros/Punchout vibe, it could be fun, plus it's a new IP, that's even better. It's about time Nintendo experimented with new IPs again like they did with Splatoon.

Splatoon 2 -Still haven't played the original yet, but this sequel looks fantastic! Can't wait to see more of it!

CONS
Prices - I'm sorry, I love Nintendo, but not enough to justify $70 for a Switch Pro controller or $80 for a L & R Joy-Con Controllers. I don't care how many bells and whistles they cram in there or how many ice cubes you can feel jingle inside a cup. I got a PS4 and Dualshock 4 controllers don't even cost that much unless you're buying them from a shady scalper. These prices they're charging are ridiculous!

MAYBE
Paid Online Subscription - Part of me is ok with this, they're just going the route of Playstation/XBOX on this. I'm mainly a solo/local multiplayer gamer so I don't play much of any games online so it has little effect on me anyway. However, it's not ok for others who do play online a lot if Nintendo isn't offering anything of value for the paid subscription. Here's a great idea for Nintendo, instead of doing the crappy thing PlayStation does with PS+ why not offer your subscribers the choice to choose what game(s) they want to get as a free game(s) of the month instead of cherry picking the games most don't want anyway.

3rd Party Games - Nintendo claimed in their Switch presentation at least 80 games are under development currently for the Switch from 3rd party developers, however I know better than to drink the kool aid on that one given they promised overwhelming 3rd party support for the Wii U and as soon as the Wii U tanked, 3rd party developers fled like cockroaches. I'll believe it when I see it.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - I love MK8, I love Mario Kart in general, it's my favorite Nintendo 1st party franchise, but I can't see paying $60 for the same game again with the same stuff (including DLC I already have) with only a few additional new characters and a better battle mode. I've never played a MK game for the battle mode, I played MK for Grand Prix and Time Trials so I couldn't care less about a better battle mode. I was so disappointed to hear there will be no new tracks, that would have sealed the deal for me. :( Oh well, maybe the rumor about a MK9 will be true, there's no way MK8 Deluxe will be the only MK game on Switch unless they keep updating it with DLC.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

I do find the mere "sprinkles" of new content in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to be welcomed, but the decision for no new tracks did disappoint me. For them to have given the effort to at least bring in an updated battle mode, new characters and polished features for a re-released port, I will find it hard to believe that they do not plan on bringing more tracks to this game in the future. MK9 tbh I really don't know, Mario Kart 8 and now deluxe seem to be so perfectly cemented in the series that I don't see another "kart" until Nintendo's next handheld, or atleast 2-3 years from now if even on the Switch. Mario Kart 8 was hit so precisely and perfectly on the quality it delivers that it is unreasonably hard to see another entry at this point, how can you top the best of the best? I believe more content is on the way, most likely either announced in a direct, before April 28th, or at E3 it will have it's own spot. After all, what we saw in the treehouse event and presentations, were essentially E3-like demos. Not the actual game or home screen. There are probably more nuggets hiding for us to find.

Splatoon 2

I own the original and played it quite frequently when it first came out, that is to say I haven't picked up the game in over a year. Splatoon 2 does seem interesting as the controls seem more free than Wii U's and the new content seems rather dashing compared to what was dropped in the original. I know I will be buying this game.

Super Mario Odyssey
This is a masterpiece already by Nintendo. Bravo to Miyamoto, and the EAD team Id presume, on it! Christmas this year will have one big perk to it. lol I really hope Mario Collects power stars, I will be sold permanently if that's his goal. The open world and no time limits make this an instant, yes. More content is undoubtedly going to be shown off at E3 and I can not wait to see what is in store.

Un-announced/wanted games

Animal Crossing - E3 most likely, it will shock em if the switch too does not get an installment.

Luigi's Mansion - Both sold particularly well and Ill be shocked if an HD Remake or another installment, doesn't happen during the switch's lifetime.

Super Mario Sunshine - 15th anniversary this year, fans have been crawling for something with it for years. I want at least a virtual console release.

Virtual Console GameCube- It needs to, and has to happen if they want the switch to win. Taking GameCube games on the go is a dream come true for many Nintendo fans.

Multimedia Support -This upsets me, No internet browser and no capability to watch anything on this... at launch. I understand it is a 'dedicated gaming platform' but when you have basically no games for the first year of the consoles launch, what sense is this making? I guess a waiting game.

Paid online services- This really upsets me, you're telling me, if I want to race online in MK8D, I'm going to have to pay for it? *sigh* On a bright note, it may scare away hackers from online races.

Switch itself
I pre-ordered mine last Friday before they sold out everywhere. I bought the grey joy-con version as the red and blue model didn't impress me :/ I enjoyed how you said, I don't care how many Ice cubes Nintendo can simulate in those controllers. haha, that cracked me up man! xD Battery life seems decent although it does seem odd that without purchasing another charger I'm going to have to use the ac adapter in the dock to charge the switch. (Docked MK8D graphics seem great btw.)

Fake items huh... I was going to say double dash was the last to use fake items, but I think MKDS had them too if I recall correctly. Interesting throwback just like the feather item which I don't believe has been used since the original MK game 25 years ago.
Title: Re: Playstation/Wii -Video Games
Post by: SO7430 on January 22, 2017, 02:05:14 PM
Actually MK Wii was the last to use fake item boxes.  If they bring back the fake item box and feather and boo + double item boxes + shine runners or thief for battle mode + possible new tracks in future DLC this will be the best Mario Kart ever made and will be a huge seller by any means. You are right on the feather, what sucks As it only appears in battle mode  <_<
Title: Re: Playstation/Wii -Video Games
Post by: Metarvo on February 03, 2017, 06:04:48 PM
I think MK64 had the best fake items, though.  They actually resembled real ones a little more and could deflect hits.  I guess later on they worked as a junky item for people in first to get which wouldn't protect them from shells and the like, but that role was taken by the coin in MK8.  I hate seeing anything be taken out of the game, with the exception of the thunder cloud (no offense, S07  ).  I don't think anybody liked that item.

As far as double item boxes go, I think those were in Double Dash only because of the two-to-a-kart mechanic.  Each player could only hold one item at a time, though; in most MK games, you can hold an item behind you and collect a second in reserve.

The more I play MK over the years, though, I find that mushrooms are my favorite item in the game.  When used right, they can be difference makers.  In MKWii and MK7, they can even be used to dodge the dreaded blue shell.
Title: Re: Playstation/Wii -Video Games
Post by: SO7430 on February 03, 2017, 10:30:37 PM
Sadly I have never played MK64. I do know that Koopa Troopa Beach is my favorite course from the game. Music is A+ if you ask me. Kalamari Desert was good too. Mario Kart Wii, the thunder cloud and mega mushroom have to be the most hated of items in my book. Next to the Tanooki leaf item in MK7. The fake item box, deserves a return, along with with the boo and feather. It would make it nice if you hit the fake item box and you shrunk like when struck by Lightning. Coins are over-used in MK8 I think they, along with the piranha plant item need to be removed. Keep the rupee in the hyrule circuit item slot, and I guess the bell from animal Crossing.

Double item boxes appeared in DD for that reason but also for special Items. (those need a return too) It is so great of them to revive this feature, and two item slots.

The starman is my favorite item, as it allows you to blow through everything. I love purposely hitting players in front of me as payback from when they hit me.

I'll say this, I prefer the Switch in handheld mode waaayyy more compared to tv mode. Forget what you read, the kickstand is great, and i frankly believe people are being far far too rough with their Switches.

I'm not sure what I'll do with my Wii U, I initially thought about trading it in, but I may give it to my niece along with the games to have as a backup Wii U since she already has one. I don't play with my Wii U much nowadays like I used to.

Handheld mode (and tabletop for that matter) seems like it would be a lot of fun, but I've always been more of home console gaming kind of guy so I would imagine my Switch would be docked 90% of the time. I think I would be a bit leery about taking a $300 handheld/console hybrid device outside of the house. :P

I for one still happen to like the ability to easily carry a 3DS in my pocket.  A Switch, by comparison, is somewhat less portable.  For that reason, even if I did get one it would mostly stay docked.  I never even got a Wii U, and it sounds like I was well served not to do so since I'm noticing a lot of people saying it is (and was) boring.  I still play the original Wii.

I bought a case and two separate carry cases for the joy cons and the tablet, it goes around with you pretty well actually. Wii games are a possibility on the Switch too, as I miss playing several Wii games and hope this functionality turns out to be true. I take it to school and play during my lunch period and it works well. Yeah the only thing you are really missing with the Wii U were a handful of GREAT games.

The sad irony is the Wii U had a great library of games, it's unfortunate more people didn't give it a chance. Who could blame anyone though, seems like everyone thought it was the Wii with a tablet add on and Nintendo didn't do it any favors either. If I didn't know any better I would have thought the Wii U was a non-Nintendo product because they did everything they possibly could to ignore this thing for 5 years. The console itself was just executed poorly. It's pretty obvious (at least to me) the Switch is what the Wii U was supposed to be. Agreed, when I get a Switch it will stay docked probably 95% of the time. I think I would get too paranoid about losing/misplacing it if I take it on the go outside of the house.

Nintendo Switch is apparently off to a VERY STRONG start, Sold 2.4 million worldwide in it's launch month of March (906,000 in the US alone). This makes it the fastest selling Nintendo console in Nintendo history. The success is partially contributed to Zelda Breath of the Wild which has a 100% attachment rate.

Haven't done this in a while, but this was some of my video game pickups for the past couple of months.

March/April 2017
Nintendo Switch
Nintendo Switch Console (April 4, 2017)
Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Just Dance 2017
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Pre-Ordered Apr 12th, arrived on release day Apr. 28th)

*SIDENOTE: I traded my Wii U console into Amazon within a week of buying the Nintendo Switch from Walmart. I gave most of all of my games, controllers, and accessories to my niece for her Wii U console. At least I know they will continue to be in good hands. To say she was ecstatic about getting this stuff is a major understatement.

Uncharted 4 (Man I love this franchise!)

I'm probably a bit insane here, but last month I added (or re-added) a new edition to my video gaming family, an Xbox One S, which fits in nicely with the Nintendo Switch/SNES mini, and PS4. For monetary reasons, I went for the slim model over the X model, I could afford it, but there's no way in hell I'm paying a grand for a video game console regardless if it's from Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo. I also gave away my 3DS XL and my 10 year old Wii which is still in good condition.

The only thing now is not only is my niece interested in getting a Nintendo Switch for here birthday in June, she's also very interested in getting a Xbox One S now. Oh god, what I have done!

I've been wanting to do this for years and I finally decided to bite the bullet and go for it. I'm starting my own gaming channel on Youtube, it's called, "NintenGamers Nation". As the name implies, it's Nintendo exclusive content. However, I will cover Playstation/Xbox together on a separate spinoff channel I'll be calling "PlayBox Nation". I haven't decided when I'll start this channel however, possibly as early as this Summer.

So I'll be doing let's plays, reviews, unboxings, discussions, etc. Not gonna lie, it's gonna be a little rough around the edges starting off, but hopefully it will quickly get better and easier as time goes on. Also you won't be seeing my face (for now), but you'll hear my voice doing commentary so if you've known me around here for a while and are curious to hear what I sound like here's your chance! lol This is a soft launch so to speak, so I'll only be uploading on weekends (and holidays) for the foreseeable future.

The first game I'll be covering is Splatoon 2 for Splatfest this weekend. It's Baseball vs. Soccer in North America. Salty Popcorn vs. Sweet Popcorn in Europe.

Here's the link, check it out if you're interested.

Two Words: Animal Crossing. 😂 Animal Crossing: New Horizons is my first AC game and I have literally been playing it everyday since it launched last Friday. It’s a very addicting game.😁

I bought this treasure last month on eBay. Never owned one, never played on one growing up. I went from my sister's SNES to my Gamecube/Gameboy Advance. Maybe it's the topsy turvy-ness of 2020, but I had this urge to buy this. My original intention was to get a Gamecube again (which I still plan to do possibly as early as this Friday). There was just something about not having this console growing up in my childhood that made me want to get it and a select back catalog of games for it.
