Jim Berkland, the same geologist who predicted the Loma Prieta earthquake would hit in 1989, says a strong, massive earthquake is imminent in California sometime between tomorrow (most likely) and the 26th. California is the last place in the Pacific Ring of Fire without earthquake activity after what happened in New Zealand (Southwest), Chile (Southeast), and Japan (Northwest) leaving the Northeast (California) the last place left for a massive earthquake. I dunno...you can't predict an exact date for a quake to hit but, I find this scary nonetheless! Here's a clip from a FOX interview:

When I saw a clip at the top of the page from Fox News, I thought to myself "I bet someone says it can't be true b/c it came from Fox." Glad I wasn't disappointed.

Due to the proximity of the US West Coast to the Ring of Fire, a major, devastating earthquake is bound to happen eventually. Probably sooner than we think. Those who live on the west coast should always be prepared for such an event, just like people in the midwest prepare for tornadoes and people in the south prepare for hurricanes. It's going to happen, it's just a matter of when. And based on that expert's statements, maybe it could happen soon. But who really knows?

Am I more inclined to believe that a hurricane will strike Florida "in the near future" simply because an "expert" says he believes it will happen?  Of course not.  Florida is regularly subject to hurricane strikes; therefore, it's something I expect to happen every summer.  Likewise, the Pacific coast of the U.S. is in an area subject to earthquakes.  Whether an "expert" says one's coming soon or not doesn't make any difference.

This is soooo BS. You need to stop believing in this stuff. I've been through a strong quake last year and I'm hoping I won't be going through another again. It literally scares the hell out of me. And I can bet EC residents are going to close businesses just because they heard about this earthquake theory (trust me, they don't take any joke about it). So whatever this "expert" is saying is wrong. Get real.

No one in the scientific community has ever been able to come up with a reliable way of predicting when an earthquake will occur.  It's still a hot topic in research, but there's been very little if any hope of that becoming a possibility anytime soon.

Stupid story. I am quite disappointed in the media with their coverage.  Rather than cover the people affected by this disaster, all they care about is scaring everyone about nuclear power. That is BS. Nuclear power is completely safe and the Japanese are handling the situation remarkably well.

Horrible news means big money.....When the headlines read:   'JAPAN DESPARATE TO STOP NUCLEAR CATASTROPHE!"   This means that many, many, people are going to click on the headline and read about how horrible the catastrophe is...The more people who click on to the news site, the more advertising money the yahoo site or the Drudge site or CBS or CNN can get.....it's always about money.
