Still local here, with almost no commercials as someone else stated.

KPNX still has a running WX+ system, complete with commercials and local inserts, as well as national maps.

WX+ University was still around as it's for fulfilling FCC requirements.

Well, according to the following article, today is the last day for the remaining staff of WxPlus:

oooh it feels like the counting down to the last days of the 3000, 4 years ago. :P

So which was in place first? WeatherScan (1999) or WeatherPlus (?) ?

Weatherscan, It was launched in 5 years before WeatherPlus which was launched in 2004

They Really don't care about the final 14 hours of WX+ they are playing the same song over and over even through national commercials

It's also using entirely new techno music, and it has national maps using the affiliate's own basemaps and title bars (they used to just show local maps). I wonder if this is WCAU's own new weather channel that replaced WeatherPlus. I don't see how they would waste their time developing this only to have it shut down a day later.

A lot of affiliates are slightly redoing the Lbar and keeping the channel on-air. Some are more redesigned than others, and some more hideous than others. See examples below:

One of the nicer designs, WKYC/Cleveland

WTMJ/Milwaukee

KGW/Portland (OR)

An uglier design, simply by rebranding the channel "NBC Plus." Seeing as how this is an NBC O&O, it wouldn't surprise me if all the other NBC O&O's follow suit.

WCAU's looks just like the last one, except it uses title bars closer to the national WeatherPlus (just a different font, and no WX+.com logo). I really like the new design and format of their new weather channel.

KPNX still running as normal WX+...no changes in the look whatsoever, but the national maps now seem to come from KPNX and not NBC - typefaces are slightly different and more like the local maps we've seen.
