Not entirely sure if some of you heard of this, but according to this video a friend of mine posted, Youtube is planning on changing the website (again) <_<.
NEW YouTube Video Watching Page Layout; A First look (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCtSqqDAAxY&feature=sub#ws)
They did the beta channels, now they're doing the video watching page. They also posted a blog (http://youtube-global.blogspot.com/2010/01/video-page-gets-makeover.html) about it as well. They are allowing you to "opt-in" if you decide to try it out, you can always click on "Return to the old YouTube" if you don't like it.
So....opinions? Like it or hate it?

With so many unnecessary changes, I really don't care at this point if YT decides to change yet again. it's something I've been used to seeing now for years
-
This is what the new page looks like in an image. I don't like the info being on the bottom of the video but, I'm getting used to it now I guess.

That's the only thing I don't like about it.

Why are they changing so much? It's not like they're competing with anybody, YT by far is the most popular video uploading site.

They are competing with many smaller sites and commercial sites like Hulu and also working to implement more ads to actually pay for the site and the legal fees that come with it. I actually like the new player design. Other design changes are minor to me and I am sure with time they will be improved. As Youtube looses more and more copyrighted content they need to keep attracting people to the site.

Love the new player itself - my HD caps now have the ability to be played in 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p instead of SD/HD.

The layout is interesting - kind of liking it.
ALSO: for those using Chrome or Safari - there is an HTML5-compliant video version. Strongly recommend it.

is this what you were talking about matt?

Of all the YouTube changes, the only one that's really irked me is the new (now old) profiles. The whole setup is very un-user friendly.

Your not the only one who thinks that. They made a blog about the new channels and 90% of the comments users made said that they didn't like it. IMO the whole site was better before. Another thing that bugs me is the new gmail connection w/ youtube. Now you have to make a stupid :censored: gmail account just to sign up, and when you log out of your youtube, it logs you out of your gmail! Ah how I miss the days when you didnt have to have 10+ letter passwords... STOP F***ING UP THE SITE GOOGLE!

I don't know about that. I've been pleased with the changes to general layout.

I'm also okay with the Youtube-linking-with-google thingy, I don't even log out of my Gmail on my computer anyways, unless I run a clean scan.
