Massive Power Outages in Florida
« on: February 26, 2008, 07:45:15 PM »
Apparently at 1:09PM this afternoon millions of Florida Power and Light customers were sent into darkness after a problem at the Turkey Point Nuclear Plant caused what's being called a "domino effect" of power outages throughout south Florida.

I wonder if Stephen is affected? I see he has not been here at all today... :ninja:

EDIT: I stand corrected. He has been here today. I just must've missed him.  :P

Maybe if we're lucky it'll make it's way up to Atlanta and TWC studios...  :whistling: We might be able to see the old icons again. :P

I don't recall any power outages today. BTW, I don't get electricity from Florida Power & Light, I get it from Gulf Power, which would probably explain why I experienced no outages. ;)

There were also sever thunderstorms over a large chunk of FLorida. Some customers might lose power b/c of the storms

Yeah but those outages are usually very minor and hit or miss.

The latest numbers suggest that there were actually over 4 million people without power today. Thankfully they say it wasn't terror or criminal related. You wouldn't think such a small malfunction would cause such a huge chain reaction outage. It almost reminds you of that huge outage the Northeast experienced awhile back.
