It is a waste if you don't plan on using it for professional use. You don't need a quad-core processor to perform everyday tasks. :no:

Why has the cost of the Power Mac gone up? Back in the late 90's when I got our G3 it was $1,500. Now it's close to $3,000.

and, they don't use PowerPC chips anymore. But i don't think that has much to do with it.
