On a separate note, Verizon here in Pittsburgh has promised the addition of 50 more HD channels by Spring's end (TWC|HD + fingers crossed), and 150 total new HD channels by the end of the year.

When I put my antenna up, I can get maybe three or four HD channels at most.

WPMT FOX 43
WGAL NBC 8
WLYH CW 15

And sometimes some Baltimore-based stations.

I'll have to try again sometime with a different antenna.

Personally, I think cable companies should charge one flat rate for HD channels. Like $19.99 for all HD channels... because with most companies, you have to pay to rent the HD box (~$10) in most areas) + the HD service (~$20)... but that will only get you local channels, and TNT, AE, USA, etc. You have to be subscribed to the SD movie channels and sports channels to get them, which is bull crap IMO. You're already dishing them $30+ a month, can't the pony up the few sport and movie channels the offer in HD?

I can answer that...we just got an HDTV with the digital QAM package thingy.  If you just plug it in, you get some bonus channels (like on ours, we get some stuff from the Notre Dame cable system, some extra radar images, and NBA TV) and it tunes the OTA stuff in clear.  donno about if it takes a CableCard or not...

And regarding OTA reception...the only stuff I watch in HD is House, Fox baseball, the Nascar races, the Thursday programming on NBC, and when they do TPIR in HD...no reason for the extra stuff.  TWC | HD on the other hand....
