I was called to serve once.  It turned out that all of the cases for that day were dismissed or settled out of court before the trial began, so I basically just sat in a big room with a bunch of other people from 8:00 in the morning until the middle of the afternoon when we were all sent home.

Been there, done that. Had to miss a day of school just to show up in court and (luckily) I didn't get chosen. If I did get chosen, I would have spent my whole Spring Break in the courtroom. >_<

Well, at least the courtroom had wi-fi, so the waiting game was pretty fun.

I've been asked twice. The first time I didn't have to show up, and the second time I had to show up, but was sent home around noon.

Same here.  I know some people who are my age that have been asked TWICE before I've even been asked.  I guess "ask" really isn't the proper word :P.

Haven't been asked yet, but it's only been a year and a half. Besides, isn't it only those who are registered to vote that are asked, or do you simply just need a driver's license? I've heard both stories.

My dad is not registered to vote, but has been asked to serve for Jury Duty three times in his life. All you need is for any government agency to have your address somewhere, for example, but not limited to: Driver's License, Voter's Registration, Government Loans. As far as I know, it's done using your social security number as well. I have not been asked to serve yet, and I'll be 22 in July.

I've never had a driver's license, but I do have a (heavily used) passport and I'm also registered to vote.  That, and I pay taxes.  :)

I was called for jury duty within a month of turning 18, so they wasted no time at all for me!  The second time I was called was several years later, but I was living outside of the country for an extended period of time.  After a couple of years of trying to get me, and receiving a reply that I'm outside the U.S., they finally excused me for that.

That's good!  I was selected for jury duty before in two separate occasions several years ago, but I was away in another state while in college during both times.  That reason excused me for serving. B)

I was getting called for jury duty every two years, then nothing for the last fourteen years. I am feeling so unloved. :cry3:
