It's pretty neat that someone from my area is now a part of the TWC community. Welcome ABC7!

You're in the Monterey/Santa Cruz area?
-
You're in the Monterey/Santa Cruz area?
Yep. I live in Aptos. Where are you from?
-
Carmel, CA. :twothumbs: I used to live more inland, and I love the coastal weather.

Oooh, Carmel is beautiful!! :thrilled:
Just out of curiousity, what is your intellistar's local weather ID? Mine is 22884.
-
22769 is my local STAR ID. do WS ID's have a code based on location etc.?
I used to have a WeatherSTAR Jr. :sunglasses: until the IS replaced it March 2004.

You had a jr?!!!! What was the current condition location?
We've had the IS since around mid-2004, IIRC. I don't recall ever seeing a junior here.

Monterey, I believe I didn't see the Carmel CC location until HiRAD was implemented.

Wow, that's awesome!! I had no idea there used to be a junior so close to home!
Do you have any way of capturing your intellistar? I'd like to compare it to mine. BTW, here's a clip of mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcIpsjg9F3s
-
I don't.
-
I don't.
Oh well. That's a shame. :hmm:
-
I'll look into a way to capture it.

Thanks!
Did you happen to record a clip of the junior?
-
I don't have any clips of the Jr.

Awww, man. :( Can you recall any of the cities on the latest hourly observations list? Or the two tide locations?
-
In the RO screen, there was Santa Cruz, San Jose, Big Sur, Carmel Valley (mind you not Carmel), and there were a few inland towns there as well. As for the tides screen, I don't remember. I bet they were more local. I think it is the same as seen on the Intellistar.
What STAR did you have in Aptos?

I wonder how Santa Cruz was on there despite the fact there is no airport there. Before hirad, my intellistar got observations from Watsonville airport.
I'm pretty sure we had the XL before the intellistar. I can barely remember it, but my parents do. And it turns out we never had the 4000 here. I think we had the 3000 here in the 90's.
-
It might've been Watsonville instead of Santa Cruz.
Were CC locations all airports?

On all the previous STARs, yes, all the CC locations were airports. But the intellistars today use hirad, hence why my intellistar's reporting site is "Santa Cruz".
Actually the other day, I created an emulated junior clip for my area. Maybe some of the cities were also used in yours. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWXIfm7QTpE

Very nice! How do you emulate the Junior? I heard some use Powerpoint.
If I can't create an emulated Junior of my area, then I'll upload a 4000 emulation.

I created the emulation in adobe after effects.
Ooh, that'd be great! Or you can tell me the cities, and I can put them in a junior emulation for you.

Speaking of Lightning...
Does he even post here? It seems Brian joined just to say "I'm new"
-
He's got 10 posts to his name, so I'm guessing he's posted somewhere. :whistling:
-
Hey ABC7, who is your cable provider?
-
Comcast. It's been it for a few years.

Comcast. It's been it for a few years.
That's strange. I could've sworn that my intellistar served both Santa Cruz and northern Monterey county. I wish I could see your metro map...
