High Speed Internet Question
« on: March 04, 2017, 04:19:32 PM »
So, after being with crappy DSL where I am, I'm finally planning to switch over Comcast/Xfinity for high speed internet either later this month or next month. I initially wanted to go with Google Fiber, but I think the construction process w/ the fiber optic lines in the Atlanta area are on hiatus the last time I heard.

Anyway, I'm leaning towards getting 100 Mbp for $50 for 3 yrs. I was wondering for anyone who has Xfinity as their internet provider and has similar speeds, is this actually fast enough to handle multiple devices simultaneously? Xfinity claims that's fast enough to handle 6-8 devices. The following below are all the devices that I'll be using.

-PC
-Amazon TV Fire Stick (Once I buy one)
-Nintendo Switch (Once I buy one)
-Nintendo Wii U
-Nintendo 3DS XL
-Playstation 4

I would still suggest it though.

I live in the area and I switched to AT&T U-Verse GigaPower (its gigabit tier) about a year ago. So far so good, much better than Comcast, and about a little less than what the former was charging us for setting up three receivers for TV, and its internet. No data cap or anything from them, it's quite good. 600 Mbps upload/download symmetrically given if I'm wired, or 300 Mbps up/down after overhead on 5 GHz wireless.

Though $50 for 100 Mbps is actually not that bad. Good luck.
