Help please???
« on: June 08, 2009, 05:23:28 PM »
Hey all. I'm having a bunch of trouble with my computer.

First of all, I have my Sony Vegas 9 problem. I downloaded the free trial and installed as I should. Then I try to open it. The splash does fine until I get to "Initializing UI", then the splash will freeze. Any help on that?

Next, my Dell fan is acting up. We cleaned it out with Q-Tips 2 Saturdays ago. It did great up until now. We tried to figure out how to open it, but the back is riveted onto the sides and we don't have anything to undo any rivets. Then again, the problem could be that it's 83° in here. Our house gets hot in the summer.

I'm not really sure how to fix your Vegas problem, especially since it is not generating any error reports.

As far as opening your dell... what is the model number? All Dells are different, some have a latch you have to push down on and then slide the cover off, others have a button on the top and bottom that you have to push in and the computer slides open in the shape of a V.

Dimension 3000.

Can you remind me how to get to the Application Errors so I can make sure I'm in the right place?

Ok, to open your computer you press down on the black "L" shaped thing on the back of the case and slide the cover off.

If your running XP you can get to the Application errors event manager by right clicking on "My Comptuer" and selecting "Manage" Then, there is a folder called "Event Viewer" expand that and look through the logs to see if anything about Vegas is in there... you might want to open it and let it freeze again so if there is an error it will be on top and you won't have to dig far.

Wasn't in the right place. However, still have no errors from Vegas. I think I'm going to talk to Sony about this.
