Graduations
« on: May 19, 2011, 10:24:41 PM »
Well, this is the time of year when people graduate, such as seniors from high school and college. Anyone on here a member of the class of 2011?

Woo! It finally happened, I finally graduated high school today! It was great and very beautiful, but I did the two things I said I was never going to do, get overly anxious/nervous and start to cry. Eventhough I didn't cry technically, I almost did lose it trying to hold back the tears when we started singing. It suddenly started hitting me that this was it, I'm about to move on to a new chapter of my life and I won't see a lot of my friends and classmates anymore.  :(

I graduated from high school 11 years ago, but it still seems like yesterday.  Actually, it was something I was eager to get over with.  Part of me wanted my youth, my childhood, and my school days to remain, but another part of me just wanted to get on to "real life," to college, and to whatever came after that.  The days between the last class and graduation just seemed like a kind of purgatory that had to be muddled through - it was mostly boring, really.  There was a week between the last class and graduation, and, other than the graduation rehearsal the day before the ceremony, I just had nothing at all to do.

Congratulations to our new high school graduates!  It's always a bittersweet time filled with mixed emotions.  I wish you all the best in college.

I graduated from high school ten years ago, but I was really eager to move on in life after dealing with very poor treatment from my classmates for years.  You know it's bad when you are bullied during graduation practice a day before you get your diploma and give a speech!

If you were valedictorian, then sadly it's a common occurrence...the val at my school was also teased during practice. It's all about jealousy, but don't let those kids stop u

You had to give a speech during graduation? I wouldn't the least bit choose to do that for the same reason.

valedictorians and salutatorians are usually the only students who give speeches...he must've been one of them

Yes, I was the valedictorian of my class and had to give a speech.  You don't have a choice as that's part of the ritual of graduation.  Unfortunately, jealousy was the reason I was teased and why I have no friends from high school.  It should make all of you stop and be thankful for what you have done in your high school careers.
