I can't even imagine how nice the foliage in Massachusetts must be. After living in the south my whole life, getting used to the duration of summer heat may be tough at first. Summer heat starts earlier and lasts longer. I don't think it really begins to cool down in Florida until mid October...well, maybe that's southern Florida. If you really hate snow, though, that's a big plus about living in the south. I certainly wish the best during your move. I live in Louisiana, which is kind of like Florida but with no beach nor very many palm trees. Daytona sounds like paradise to me.
I've been in several different places in the fall, but the most beautiful fall foliage I've ever seen - by far - is in New England. At least I have several photos and a great memory. I'm sure it will seem
very strange in a few months when everything's still green, and I'm watching the fall foliage report on TWC while still sweating outside!
I've only visited central Florida in the winter and early spring before, so I can't even imagine how I'll get through those summers - relentless heat and numerous thunderstorms. I'll probably melt into a pile of Eric goo. And I'm not even mentioning the inevitable hurricane!!
I do hate winter, but I also hate heat. I guess I'll have to wait and see which one is the lesser of two evils. At least you can't slip on sunshine.
